Totally forgot that this was the finale. It was also the first "meh" episode for me. Just felt a little different and out of place from the rest of the season for whatever reason.

I also wanted to see Jimmy take the offer and get his big break - THEN come crashing down somehow. Seems like they're rushing to "Saul Goodman" a little.

Agreed. I couldn't see the jump from what happened to his friend to him deciding not to go to the meeting. It didn't ring true to me. Overall though it was a good season and I will definitely keep watching.

I also found the twist unbelievable. Overall the episode was not particularly interesting to me.

I thought he should take the offer and prove his brother wrong.

Made perfect sense to me.

I am curious to hear your thoughts on why it made sense. Yours too dotKen!

In a nutshell, IMHO, the rejection of his dream job and the line "I know what stopped me and it’s never stopping me again" signifies Jimmy's realization that his life up to that point had been a lie. The week back home reliving his "Slipping Jimmy" days allowed him to do what he truly loved, and that "breaking good" was not for his benefit but to win the approval of his brother Chuck...something that he finally learned that he will never have.

Jimmy will never be legit...not in his eyes, nor the eyes of those who know him best. And Marco's death symbolized the death of his street hustling days, freeing him to become the kind of lawyer he knows he should be, instead of the kind of lawyer Chuck is.

Jimmy knows that he will never have that acceptance from Chuck as a peer, and he knows that Chuck was right when he said "You'll always be Slipping Jimmy".

Mirrors my line of thought plus he was happiest with Marco scamming greedy people. Sort of his contribution to morality. Prior to heading to Chicago he was reluctantly taking the partnership with the firm that was going to shortchange the "old people" as evidenced by the exchange with Kim when she enticed by conveying the constant calls from Jimmy's "clients" who wanted to deal with him rather than the corporate associates. They missed him. Jimmy probably saw that the reason he was recruited by the new firm was for his "contacts" and not his skill set as an attorney. Maybe he realized everyone was scamming everyone and he was being scammed by everyone around him. He had sympathy\empathy for his clients. He was the good guy and realized good guys finish last. Never again was his mantra. Mike's final answer to Jimmy probably cemented his desire to be the New Jimmy/Saul Goodman when he was asked why didn't we take the money and Mike's response was " I was paid to do a job , nothing more nothing less.

I like this write up on the final episode;

I tried to get into this for the first couple of episodes because I really enjoyed Breaking Bad.... but IMO,..."better call saul".. better call a priest, because the show has no soul

I loved BB and loved BCS too. It was worth watching just for the build-up to the finale. The second season should be even better.

yeah... I dug it a lot. S1 was a super-slow build and the payoff was great. They nailed the perfect way to do Saul's "origin" story and they still have a ways to go.

My only question is... when/how does Chuck die and is Jimmy in any way responsible... or does he end up in a looney bin? Figure that's got to happen at some point since we never see him, or even hear about him in BB.

and "Talking Saul" a la Talking Dead.

Check out the painting on the wall of Jimmy's new office. "Pothead"?
