I notice that Bickley recently wrote a blog about "Cardinals fans should expect changes"---

Could you tell us out of towners what Bickley wrote?

It would be much appreciated.

This should get you to the article.

Goodbye to University of Phoenix Stadium, where the season finale featured more opposing fans than hometown supporters.

At least it sounded that way, which is the way it used to sound at Sun Devil Stadium. And did you see the way players were slipping all over a shoddy field?

Even the grass has quit on these Cardinals.

This about sums up the article and the 2012 season.

A "dead cat bounce" one of the funniest descriptions I've seen applied to the Cardinals since "the buzzsaw that is the Arizona Cardinals".

Bickley always seems happiest when he's whining about how bad the Cardinals are.

The only fact of life Cardinal fans should gird themselves for is the onslaught of "The Cardinals are so bad..." comments and jokes from the media.

And, as painful as this might be, the only way it will stop will be when we start winning again. All else is just jabber.

He's not whining. He's usually either berating them or making fun them. And the Cardinals are experts at playing the straight man. Too bad they're not as talented at playing football.

There's an old movie, Shenandoah ,where Jimmy Stewart's character talks about how painful it is to be in love with a woman you don't like. That fairly well sums up what it is like to be a Cardinal fan.

Thanks much!---unfortunately the links don't help because it still requires a subscription.

But I get the gist---

Funny he didn't mention a possible change involving Whisenhunt...

I know his colleague Paola Boivin has been campaigning for at least one more year of Whisenhunt.

Somers has been saying it's not the coaching---it's the talent evaluation---the latter for sure, but it's coaching when you leave Nate Potter one on one with Julius Peppers on thirds and 7...for 6 years straight now without one single above average pass blocking LT---only Warner was leery enough and smart enough to work out quick timing hits to his WRs.

Bickley mentions Fitzgerald could be gone---what does he say there?

Funny that Somers is saying it's the talent---and Bickley is saying some of the best and proven talent on the team could well be headed out the door. Hmmm.

Does anyone question Beanie Wells' talent? I mean the guy is huge and runs a 4.4---and when he wants to he plows over tacklers---

Could someone absolutely coach Beanie Wells up?

Think Darnell Dockett has a big year or two left in the tank?

Think Adrian Wilson could thrive in a specialized role?

This is why I am hoping that no player is cut before a new coach has a chance to coach these guys for himself.

I believe if we get the right coaches we will see much different results.

It's interesting that John Skelton hasn't been cut---especially seeing as Whisenhunt has roster control.

I am wondering if the FO has told him he can't cut anyone at this point.

I sure hope so.

I don't have a subscription and it came right up for me so that's odd. Unless I subscribed at some point in the past without remembering.

He said the Cards would be remiss in not at least exploring the market value of Fitz.

Same here. I do get the pop up that says you have x number of free articles left but otherwise it works fine. Maybe you read AZ Central too often Mitch.

Goodbye to Larry Fitzgerald? Somehow, the Cardinals’ star surpassed 100 receiving yards in Sunday’s loss. But if the quarterback situation doesn’t improve in the very near future, I’d be shocked if he didn’t quietly pursue a trade. And the next general manager would be a fool if he didn’t gauge Fitzgerald’s market value.

I'm not sure if ASFN allows this but here you go.....

No. We don't at all. Link to it, don't paste it.

ASFN does allow it on the P&R Board though. So you could post the entire article there and link to it on here. :D

Warts and all, I have always liked reading Bickely---

He's raw and often unplugged---and I like that.

I loved it when he wrote: "No other statistic is needed to describe our pain."

What I didn't love was seeing how the organization under Graves and Whisenhunt has allowed the following players to be held up as scapegoats:

Upon this sentiment I will go raw and unplugged myself"

Wilson?

I am sorry but this guy has been loyal and put his heart into the franchise 10,000 times more than any coach has.

Sure, he's gotten older---he is playing through pain that he never complains about, but has clearly hindered him a little from doing exactly what his mind wants him to do.

"We lost," was all Wilson could say. GOOD FOR HIM! This is why he is and always will be a winner.

If whomever coaches the team next year doesn't find a specialized role for him I will be furious.

If this past Sunday was Wilson's last game at U of P and he is playing somewhere else next year, I will be irate.

IT CANNOT END THIS WAY FOR #24. NO FREAKING WAY.

Dockett?

Coaches get the credit for supposedly "changing the culture"...but---other than Kurt Warner, who has changed the culture more in Arizona than Darnell Dockett?

Who coined the term "Birdgang"?

Who was on twitter rejoicing in every move the Cardinals tried to make or begging other players to come to AZ?

This guy has battled through more adversity in his lifetime and in his time at AZ than anyone in the organization.

And excuse me but I am glad he refused to lay down on the Jets---

Talk about double standards from the coaches---

A week earlier Dockett and his defensive compadres were being trotted out to the field every 1:15 minutes of playing time because the offense went a historic 0-15 on 3rd downs---and because his own head coach had quit on the team up 13-3 in the Atlanta game and it was now carrying over to the Jets game and refused to put in a QB who has 6 4th quarter comeback wins to his credit---

EVERYONE should know why Dockett refused to lay down---

BECAUSE he and his defensive Birdgang had been fighting their TAILS off to try to pitch a shutout in order to win---and fighting their TAILS off to do everything in their power to prevent the Falcons, the Jets or whomever one lousy inch of offense...

And now to be told to lay down? In THAT situation?

It means the coaches know absolutely NOTHING about a player's pride.

Plus---when you can't even gain a first down, how is a Ryan Lindley offense going to score 8 points with one minute and change left?

C'MON MAN---SERIOUSLY---C'MON MAN

At least leave the defensive players with their pride---at least they could say they held an opponent on the road to seven points, despite being on the field THE ENTIRE FOOTBALL GAME thanks to an 0-15 offense.

The poetic justice?

At least Rex Ryan, Shonn Greene and the Jets allowed what Whisenhunt couldn't do for Dockett and the Birdgang by taking a knee at the one inch line. Whisenhunt?

If this were the Super Bowl, fine.

This game was the freaking Toilet Bowl.

At least let Dockett & Gang walk off with their heads high.

John Skelton?

Let me put it this way---if last year John Skelton played the way Ryan Lindley has THIS year, last year would have been 4-12 at best.

The greatest irony of all?

Where would Ken Whisnhunt be without a defense that resurrected the season last year and Skelton who did enough to go 6-2?...which could easily have been 7-1 if Doucet doesn't botch the game winning TD pass in Cincy.

Now---Dockett, Wilson and Skelton, three key reasons why the Cardinals salvaged any semblance of respectability the past three years are on their way out---

UNFREAKING REAL.

I think you're giving Dockett too much credit. i think he didn't want to lay down because he didn't really grasp why it made any sense. he's spent his whole career being told to play one way and then someone tells him to let someone score. He's not that kind of guy, there simply wasnt' enough time to explain to him why it made sense in a way that he would understand and be willing to go along with.

With Wilson I love the guy but it's the nature of the beast. When he got the new contract extension he knew this was coming, it's why he did it he got 6.5 million guaranteed up front with a new signing bonus, in exchange for giving the Cards a cap break. If he didn't know this was coming he has a terrible agent. The agent must have known the purpose of the extension was to reward Wilson THIS year for his efforts over his career, in exchange for giving the team cap relief down the line when they were really going to need it. Bad franchises hold on to players one year too long.

Skelton well we're just not going to agree on him.

He is always standing around like a dude trying to pinch off a loaf.. And his buddy Jurecki is a greasy head alchohlic..

Love that part of the movie because when he asked the boy intent on marrying his daughter why, the boy replies I love her. Stewart's character then says that is not good enough, but do you like her :)

I don't know about Dan Bickley. It drives me nuts hearing him talk so negatively about Phoenix sports franchise Players and Executives. It drives me nuts because when they appear on his radio station, he has nothing but praise for them. Once the guest leaves Bickley and crew think of difficult, critical or challenging questions that they "should have asked". A good reporter not only thinks of good questions, but then has the courage to ask them in an interview.

I do agree that he is an excellent writer and storyteller, and that is the reason for his success today. His vivid descriptions of location, atmosphere, energy and weather of sporting events is the reason he will always have a job at the paper.
