I can see him rolling his eyes now...

Young fools, sigh...

Do not offer hope, when there is none, ...... simply tell them you'll make money even if no one ever comes to the games and leave....

Rookies.

wow. just wow. wow.

Who knows what he really said... Has any Bidwill ever offered anything remotely insightful in an interview? Michael is always spouting some flub.

This got me to thinking about something....which no one will ever know and is a worthless exercise..but I will do it anyway....what is the protocol for the Cardinals? Who talks to who? Does Michael communicate with Denny...or Rod? I guess both...Does Michael talk to Denny on a daily basis..or is it a hands off operation? Where do mr. B and B Jr (the one listed on the website at azcardinals.com as being a Vice President...and his bio/history page is completely blank) come in? Maybe B jr. is kicking Denny's ass telling him to get some damn wins... Something tells me that this team should start with something simple like an organization chart. If I was a new coach in for an interview..that would be one of my 1st requests... I would want to know who makes what decisions and what exactly EVERYONES responsibility is.

I think they need to start with a blank piece of paper and start over...not with the players necessarily..but from the CEO down to the coaches. I think confusion reigns. I am not advocating a change of ownership as that is kind of a joke (i.e. never happen).. I actually think B Sr. is a decent guy...just kind of shy and misunderstood..unfortunately..he also calls the shots.

Maybe I am wrong...maybe they are excellent communicators and have a great management system in place...but the poor results on the field over and over again tell me this is not the case.

Anyone remember a few years ago when Junior Seau was cut..or something...someone asked either Mr. B or Graves..cannot remember which one...are you interested in Junior? They replied...we put Bill Jr. on the case... I was not sure if this was Mr. B being funny (I think he said it)...he does have a sense of humor...he may have been joking.....I think he may have been..maybe he was not. I am so confused. I thought Rod Graves was in charge of this stuff? maybe Jr. knew Junior personally? whatever...If they have an org chart...they should throw it away and start over.

Michael talks to both Denny and Rod. (has said that in the past). Rod goes to Michael for approval on deals... who in turn speaks with Bill Sr.

In all honesty.. who freaking cares... all they have to do is win which means players need to stop being dumb and make plays.

but to expect players who continually play "dumb and don't make big plays" to play smart and make big plays seems really foolish. Maybe if a lot of those players weren't picked off the scrap heap or weren't piss-poor FA signings in the first place, we wouldn't be in this mess. It goes both ways.

Too bad nobody thought to redouble Derrick Burgess sunday so he didn't single handedly destroy our passing game.

clif: I suppose my point is that this team has a serious problem putting the puzzle together. As stated in other threads..look at the offensive line...we took a few starters off of other teams and they are awful...we cut a few guys for a variety of reasons who were obviously better... You could go on and on....

When we do not get someone off the scrap heap..(Ross, James) we seem to pick the wrong guy... every time...

Sure but there any nothing they can do about that until the offseason. What they can do is take it upon themselves to play better. You can't play a great game against the bears one week then stink it up against the Raiders and blame it on poor FA signings. The players punked out.

i can agree with that enough not to get into a heated debate. too tired and this team ain't worth the trouble anymore.

For the record...I will say that if we have any strength the past year or two...I think our draft has improved. I think the last three years we have improved quite a bit...compared to the old days. Unfortunately...a bad team will need more than decent drafts to become a good team...you need some good (i.e. not necessarily expensive) free agents to work out also...

Although everyone is down on Rolle this week...he was a better pick than some of our other first round picks..Thomas Jones (for whatever reason) and Wendall Bryant come to mind. We got virtually nothing out of both of them. This past year they may have reached for Litui..but Leinart, Watson and Pope so far look like very good picks..so the draft process seems to have improved...

Clif: I am taking the cheesebeef route and going offline shortly...and I do not want to get into Kendall arguments, etc...but most people would agree that our big free agent signing in 2005 was Oliver Ross. He is awful...completely awful..I would think most people would agree on this. Our offensive line is in the top 10 in the league in terms of pay. I heard on the radio today that Leonard davis by himself makes almost as much as the entire New England Patriots offensive line. We have tried to improve the offensive line..how many free agents and draft picks have we tried? For this unit..it is not a matter of money....it is a matter of making the wrong choices or bad coaching..or something..they suck as a unit.

Okeafor was the biggest signing last year, not Ross. I thought Chike had a very solid first year, not quite as productive this year so far.

Why is there any amazement over this story?

Now, had they named Rod Graves head coach and appointed Keith Rowen as OC, that would merit a "wow".

In fact it's exactly like something one friend would say to another in an impossible situation, .... ie.... dude, we're here at the house and it burned down, your dads prized dead species stuffed animal impossible to replace collection he loves more than life itself is ashes.. What do we do...

Insert crazy insane denial of reality talk here.

I don't think there was enough comment on how actually funny this was. Bravo, Russ.

The last person that I remember saying "We shall redouble our efforts" was the poor guy who couldn't get the Death Star built before the Emperor showed up.

Sorry Clif but no it isn't this isn't about cash, it's about not having any better options until the season is over.
Sorry Nidan, but the season is already over. You fire Green now to tell the players that this crap is unacceptable meanwhile you explore and scout your options for next year throughout the rest of the season.

And as far as Mike Bidwill's stupidity goes - is anyone surprised?

:biglaugh:

I was thinking the exact same thing. I could only imagine what it would be like if Darth Vader was the Cards coach...

"Bidwill said he talked to both Green and vice president of football operations Rod Graves via phone Monday and asked them to “redouble their efforts” in trying to turn the season around."

redouble their efforts. That's just strikes me as very funny for some reason.

In a related story, the LA Police just called OJ Simpson and asked him to redouble his efforts in finding Nicole and Ron's killer.

i might not want to watch the green bay game. it could be worst than the raidiers game. farve and green are back in action. it probally won't take much to destroy the cardinals this week with everything going on.

DS2 Moff: We'll redouble our efforts.
Vader: I hope so, for your sake, Commander. The Emperor isn't as forgiving as I am.

"What I asked them, frankly, was, 'How in the hell did we get to 1-6?'" Bidwill told the newspaper. "Close losses don't count. We're 1-6, and we shouldn't be. I wanted to know what we were doing to correct it."

I like this quote a little more. It makes us sound like we care and are unhappy with the results. I's like a real fotball team!!

That's one area I've been critical of Green I think he's made huge mistakes in signing the wrong FA's. I was quite critical of the Okeafor signing not because I think he's not very good, but because there was a damn near identical player in Bryce Fisher that signed for quite a bit less, also in our division. ANd if you really wanted an impact guy, Derrick Burgess was the hot name that offseason because he'd had a great playoff run for the Eagles. Burgess got 5 years 17 million, we gave Chike 5 years 25 million. My complaint at the time was not that I knew Burgess would lead the NFL in sacks but that both he and Fisher were comparable players to Okeafor, and would cost quite a bit less allowing us to pursue other players as well.

Since then Chike has 8.5 sacks, Fisher 12, and burgess 21. Obviously Burgess was a gamble, had 8 sacks as a rookie, 2 years of injuries, then 2.5 sacks regular season huge postseason. He was not at all unknown, everyone saw him in the playoffs, the question was can he do that for a full season, that's why he got so much less money than Chike. Not saying Green has to get the best guy everytime, but we've done that a few times. Ross obviously, Huff. Green does a nice job evaluating for the draft but whoever is deciding which FA's to throw money at, and I suspect in general it's Green, has made mistakes.

Personally I don't think Green was the guy who elected to chase Edge, if he was, he would have traded the 2nd rounder to the Colts the year before instead of using it to draft arrington.

IMHO THe Bidwills are playing Denny in a hand of Arizona Hold 'em.
They hold onto to Denny until he cant stand it anymore and resigns. THat way they wont have pay the 2.5 mil
It'll be interesting to see who folds first.
The losers of course are the fans and players.

Ante Up!!!
