But I will be honest, I can tell you the kind of girls involved in this case just by reading the reports, and I think a lot of us have dealt with them before. I think a 2-4 game suspension is all that is warranted, mostly for hanging out with 19-20 yr old sorority girls at a bar. Those girls are NOTHING but trouble.

Agree it's unlikely. SF is an interesting option though. Would Singletary be able to tame Big Ben?

I don't know if he will be able to tame him but if he drops his pants again in front of him and his players, I could see some more allegations surfacing. :D

SF just lost their GM, I seriously doubt they could even get this done right now. I know Daniel Snyder is sobbing like a baby right now because he would have been all over this. I have to agree with LIAC in saying that the top three possibilities are all in our division. Cleveland has tons of draft picks and could be an option if they so s=choose, but I don't think Ben is best suited for a WC scheme.

I'll be honest that line of thinking is completely ignorant and is the reason why only 1/3 sexual assaults get reported in this country. You do not know those girls and even if you know the "type" that still doesn't excuse the behavior of Ben. She said no, and the victims friends tried to help the victim. That doesn't sound like nothing but trouble girls to me.

maybe San Fran?

..and here's a darkhorse: Eagles

Never rule Jerry Jones out of any thing. He wants a superbowl. Nothing less and so far Romo has not delivered him a superbowl. Big Ben for Romo heads up.

Adam Schefter has proclaimed on the ESPN rumor blog that the Cards should trade for Roethlisburger, citing the Grimm/Wiz Steeler connection.

That should gin up the amount of fan & media chatter; but I don't think it would happen for a gazillion reasons; including:

- He's too good for the Steelers to let go.

- Trade terms would, by necessity, be too rich for our blood. (Ask yourself - what would we have to give up? And if we did it, what would be the net impact on our football team)?

- Cardinal FO emphasis on "character."

- Timing sucks - do you really want to blow up the offenses of two teams this late in the off-season?

- High-maintenance nature of Roethlisburger.

I liked the possibility of trading for McNabb because Donovan had a track record of leadership and being a solid guy. At the very least, without knowing more, you'd have to consider Ben a questionmark in those areas.

From a football perspective, the Cards getting Ben would be ENORMOUS, but it seems like he is a big time douchebag and if the sex assault charges are even remotely true (ie, the charges are overblown, but still based in fact), then he should have his kneecaps busted in with a baseball bat. If truly and fully innocent....

Matt Leinart/what else? for Roethlisberger?

You forgot too close to a college campus that is known for good looking women. (ASU).

even if Ben were squeaky clean I highly doubt Whis would want him because of their contentious relationship... Whis does not like Ben and Ben does not like Whis.

Bump.

According to Adam Schefter

  1. Here are the known no's on interest in Roethlisberger right now: Rams, Bills. Others might not be, just not known yet. about 7 hours ago via UberTwitter
  2. Here are teams that Steelers have called about Roethlisberger: Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns. about 7 hours ago via UberTwitter
http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter

My guess is the Raiders do make a trade offer for him. Al Davis has no problem with thugs and he is crazy enough to make an offer. Shocking to see the Browns on that list though.

And add to the fact of the rumors of a bad relationship between Wiz & BB. Remember when the Steelers came to AZ? Neither would even shake hands, so there has to be some truth behind it.

Draft day trade: Clausen on the board at 8 and Oak deals the #8 pick to Pitts for BR. Pitt nabs Clausen.

Cbus, I'm gonna say the Niners step up & send a #1 & #3 & the Steelers jump all over it.

I have a feeling the 9ers won't touch him. I think behind the scenes they know he basically raped that girl and most franchises won't touch someone who's got that bad a character. Especially not with Singletary as coach. I would hope Mike S. punches Roth in the face and breaks his neck if he was his coach and found out his star QB raped a girl.

The thing is, if the facts supported Roethlisberger being criminally prosecuted he definitely would have been prosecuted by the District Attorney. So this leaves doubts in my mind why he was not charged. With all the supposed evidence there must have been a reason the DA did not go forward. He may still face civil action. So what is left is basically a moral issue and a case of bad judgment. If I were the Cardinals I'd at least consider Roethlisberger (apparently not likely because of rumored past problems with Whiz). If Leinart is brilliant during the first 6 games of the season, the Cardinals could trade Roethlisberger. If Leinart does not get it done, the Cardinals have their QB. I seriously doubt the Steelers would do business with the Cardinals anyway.

I don't think rumors of the Steelers trading Ben are legit. I'd bet that management has no intention of trading him and are only "taking offers" as part of his punishment and to save face with the rest of the team after trading Holmes for his off-field transgressions. After the draft they'll state that they didn't receive any offers of fair value and will keep him.

I think the Steelers are putting out feelers to see what offers they might get and may possibly trade him tomorrow during the Draft. If Rooney says to get rid of him, they will. Doesn't matter what any executives think or say.

This makes me think back to when the Patriots were caught cheating, and instead of getting rid of their coach, OC, QB, whoever was involved, they instead gave their coach an extension. (No high morals there, I guess.)

From the sounds of things this is exactly what is going on. They are calling around to different teams to test interest in Ben (this was according to one of the Raiders writers on ESPN First Take) and not the other way around.

I'm starting to think he won't be a Steeler next season

If the Steelers trade him I think it will be in-season if and when they've proven to themselves and their fans that they can win without him. Even then, the stars would have to align because you'd need a suitor that had all the pieces in place but a QB. That could be a team that had their starter go down to injury in preseason or in the first few games.

i heard that too. I think if Clausen is on the board at 8 we'll see a blockbuster: Ben and the 18th to Oak for the 8 and Asomuagh(sp.). Al is supposedly shopping all his CB's and that trade works for both teams.
