No thanks. I want to win but not at the cost of having a guy who has demonstrated that he has no respect for women and believes he can take what he wants from them.

My wife calls him Rapelisberger.

I really want a quality QB here, but a guy like that has so much baggage.

Considering our QB situation, poo poo'ing Rothelisberger is somewhere beyond stupid. People act like a rookie will come in next year and be the next Luck/Wilson/RG III, when you're just as likely to get the next Ponder/Locker/name your crappy high QB draft pick. Bottom line in the NFL, if you don't have a legit QB, you are basically irrelevant.

Big Ben would make us an immediate threat, and is the perfect QB to deal with our crappy line. If there is any realistic way to make it happen, do it.

To be successful behind our Oline we better land Johnny Meziel!:D
I would be all for it! Imo he's a combo of Favre/Tarkenton.

I do not like Meziel, but he looked the part yesterday. If he can put on 15 pounds he could be good. He will be there when we pick.

He's been even better this year at throwing the rock than his Heisman year! IMO he's gonna join Archie Griffin as the second 2 time winner.

I've watched everyone of his games this year in Texas & all I can say after each game is wow!!! I'm skeptical of his off the field issues & his possible injury issues at the NFL level, but have zero doubt about his ability to lead & his ability to pass the pigskin.

“It is one of the most BS stories that I’ve ever heard of,” Roethlisberger said after Sunday’s win over the Bills, via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’ve always said that I want to be a Steeler for life. I love it here. I’m happy here. I don’t want to go anywhere. No one in my family, our camp, agents, no one has ever said anything about that. Wherever this was made up from is totally false.”

Decline?

Last week against new england ...400 yard and 4 touchdowns.maybe u have an idea which kind of weapons he has right now??

He's not going to finish the season, IMO. He's breaking down, bit by bit.

Plus, I can't stand the guy.

My question to many is, can a man reform and correct his behavior. Most if not all of us are behind the Honey Badger doing this. Yes, rape is far more hideous but the question remains. Some will never forgive Vick for his past transgressions but pretty much any religion allows for a human being to correct their prior transgressions.

If we can't allow a person to improve or correct their prior "mistakes" then should we just have a death penalty for the more hideous crimes?

Once again I don't want Big Ben but I don't know that I won't be able to root against him or stop following the Cards if they acquire him.

I would not give up what it would take to get him. He is breaking down which is why he has more bad games than good games at this point in his career. We would still be buying too high on him. He is Palmer in two years.

It's a fair question Cardiac but it's not a simple one. I really can't answer it.

Maybe not but I'd have to rationalize quite a bit in order to stay a Cards fan. I don't think every player has to be an angel and in general I'm concerned with who they are when they're on the field, not who they are when they're away from the game. Still, I believe the guy is a serial rapist and I can't cheer for someone like that. I'd have to find a way to convince myself that all the incidents were overblown or that maybe he had an extreme alcohol problem or something like that and I'm just not sure I can rationalize that well. But I wouldn't rule it out, I've kidded myself into some pretty stupid decisions in my life.

Well the answer for me is yes they can. The bigger question has Ben done so?

Let me add that the number of people who do reform is a very small percent of the subject group.

I actually wrote a lot more and then deleted it. Yes, some people can be rehabilitated but there are some lines, once crossed, that I'm just not sure a person can come back from. I think Vick falls into that group (the "I think" part of that sentence depends on whether he actually did what they said he did). Anyone that can intentionally torture a living creature solely for the pleasure of watching that torture is beyond redemption IMO. Ben is a different story but the sticking point for me is I just have no sense that he acknowledged his behavior and endeavored to change it. It seemed more like an "I need to be more careful" than an "I need to change my ways". I could be wrong, that's just how I saw it.

I get what you are saying and can't really argue the opposite side of the debate. I do think some people are just "wired" wrong and can't be saved. Thing is I do believe some people just need help and can be fixed.
Let's just draft a QBOF and save ourselves the mental anguish.

Vick apologized and has worked to rectify what he did. (Not that he can but he's humbled himself and shown he knows he did something unacceptable.)

Honey Badger, while affecting his team, did something that hurt himself more than others. (Hopefully he learned a lesson. So far, so good.)

If R-burger apologized to his victim..... I missed that. If he's ever acknowledged that he demeaned a woman by being a crass and vile person who didn't have the right to touch his victim much less attack her.... I missed that too.

I agree. I might say this even if Ben was an off-the-field saint. I think he's much closer to the downhill slide of his career than we realize. I think he's another short term fix and I'd rather we pursue our QBOF.

I agree Vick has said all the right things. He does seem contrite etc.

Fully agree on Honey Badger.

Never ever want to put myself in the position of defending Big Ben so as I have posted several times I wouldn't be in favor of bringing him in. I do get your point and fully agree with it.

Which QB do you want to draft in rd 1 in 2014?

The one that Crash Davis would look at and say, "The gods reached down and turned your right arm into a thunderbolt."

Well then, you have your marching orders so let me know the final choice.

Johnny Meziel :D

Depending on where we draft, we may be able to trade back into the mid 1st round & add a LT & Meziel. The kid has major skills.

Meziel scares me. He seems to have an uncanny ability to play QB, he also has the baggage of being a jerk. Can he be a true leader or is he Jeff George in disguise?
