He could have held his head up and continued to pull for his team instead of deflating like he did. He is the Quarterback for pete's sake!! Isn't he supposed to be the team leader?
Oh yes, we've all seen over the years those shabby examples of leaders like Aikman, Montana, Dawson, Marino, Unitas and yes, even the man himself, John Elway, on the sidelines with a stoic expression on their faces. Losers! Why weren't they standing on the bench, waiving towels to motivate the crowd?
Like one of the other posters said earlier, the guy just played one of the better halves of football I've seen in a while. He also got pounded after nearly every pass he threw, so a little sitting on the bench recovering isn't such an odd thing.
I don't ever recall seeing Peyton, win, lose or draw, running up and down the sidelines pumping everyone up. I've seen him talk to his team mates, pat them on the back, but he's not exactly Mr. Emotional. His team mates know he's there for them. They know he's just given his all to put them in a position to win. I seriously doubt any of them thought he needed to be at Dungy's side, head held high, watching the defense do their job.
