He could have held his head up and continued to pull for his team instead of deflating like he did. He is the Quarterback for pete's sake!! Isn't he supposed to be the team leader?

I just think he was afraid to watch.

Didn't see anything wrong with it. I mean given his history and Brady's history did anybody not expect the pats to score there and win the game?

Did anyone notice Peyton Manning with his head down praying or crying, or just plain feeling sorry for himself just before Brady threw the game winning int? Instead of holding his head high and being a team leader by spurring his defense on, he took to pitying himself. Not the earmark of a champion or even a sportsman.

At least the Pats didn't make it in. Whew! I hate those guys.

Pitying himself? Not at all. He didn't want to watch...I don't blame him. It was out of his hands at that point. He put them ahead, the defense had to hold with Tom Brady the Risen Lord taking control. I wouldn't want to watch either, and just listen to the crowd.

What I am saying is Peyton Manning is a bit of baby. I don't hate the Colts, I am happy for them. I hate the Pats. Let's get it straight.

ok then - Gawd must hate the Cardinals.

If we take it as a given that NFL teams each have close to the same amount of believers in the Angry White Man in the Sky - why would he favor any particular team?
Who cares that Dungy makes 7 figures - does he have any proof of a god because of his salary?
Indy played with heart and won a game - there's no need to bring the supernatuaral into it.
Sports is a human endeavor - gods are for churches.

It has nothing to do with favoring anyone, it has to do with what gives you inner strength. Did Buster Douglas' mom rise from the grave to help him beat Mike Tyson in arguably the greatest upset in sports? Or did his mom's passing give him focus and an inner strength to believe he could actually beat the unbeatable?

If you've ever been in a game with the whole thing hanging on one play, I guarantee, if you're even slightly religious, you've said a little prayer for help. 'Please Lord, help Shanks O'Houlihan hit this one field goal'. A show of hands of those among of who haven't dropped a personal note to the All Mighty in times like that. If you say you haven't, your either lying, not bright or an atheist.

Trust me, it doesn't matter who or what you think gets you there, as long as you believe it to be the reason.

Brady did go up to congratulate Manning. Just saw the first picture of it:

talk about tools - any pro athelete or coach that thanks an imaginary higher being for winning is an idiot - like this supreme being that supposedly created a whole universe cares about what a team on some insignifigant planet does.
hahahaha...

Arguments about religion are never settled. One either has faith or does not. I am not a very religious person but found my self in a tight situation during the Vietnam war after being shot down in Laos. I did pray as I was going to leave no stone unturned. Why I am here today I do not know but if it was God then thank you. If it was because of my skill then thank me. If it was just luck I hope I have more.

Oh yes, we've all seen over the years those shabby examples of leaders like Aikman, Montana, Dawson, Marino, Unitas and yes, even the man himself, John Elway, on the sidelines with a stoic expression on their faces. Losers! Why weren't they standing on the bench, waiving towels to motivate the crowd?

Like one of the other posters said earlier, the guy just played one of the better halves of football I've seen in a while. He also got pounded after nearly every pass he threw, so a little sitting on the bench recovering isn't such an odd thing.

I don't ever recall seeing Peyton, win, lose or draw, running up and down the sidelines pumping everyone up. I've seen him talk to his team mates, pat them on the back, but he's not exactly Mr. Emotional. His team mates know he's there for them. They know he's just given his all to put them in a position to win. I seriously doubt any of them thought he needed to be at Dungy's side, head held high, watching the defense do their job.

an apology is in order...i don't like the pats either...they remind me of the yankees in their glory years..i read it too fast and wrong. whomever wins the game will be okay but i have to root for the bears or my neighbors will drive me out of my home.

This is off the subject, but I always think the league should do something about his cut-off sweatshirt. They won't let guys wear suit and tie, but they let this guy wear this crap. Have some class Bill.

Yes, this may be over-critical, but hey it bothers me.

And it should bother you.

It should bother everyone not making millions of dollars to coach f'n football.

Bill Belichek is a jerk, classless moron, who thinks the world owes him something. If being given millions of dollars, fame thru 3 Superbowl wins, and the best job in the world in not enough. Would you think being paid millions would make you want to respect the game, and your organization a little more by looking somewhat presentable ? Isn't part of the million dollar deal is to also conduct interviews after the game ? Well Mr.Belichek does NOTHING but bare minimums when it comes to any kind of showing of class, and showing respect to other people other than himself. I have never liked the guy, and continue to hate the Pats because of him and Brady.

I am glad he was called out by LT, and I was happy to watch him AND Brady make complete asses out of themselves yesterday.

KFFL.COM:
Patriots | Former linebacker T. Johnson says he was forced to practice with concussion
Fri, 2 Feb 2007 08:19:24 -0800

The Associated Press reports former New England Patriots LB Ted Johnson says head coach Bill Belichick subjected him to hard hits in practice while recovering from a concussion, against the advice of the team's top trainer, during the 2002 season, according to a report in The New York Times. Johnson said in an interview with the paper that a collision with another player in practice led to another concussion. Johnson says he now forgets people's names, misses appointments and suffers from depression and an addiction to amphetamines. There was a point where Johnson appeared headed to Alzheimer's disease. ''There's something wrong with me,'' Johnson said. ''There's something wrong with my brain. And I know when it started.''
