Now that the Whiners gouged the Bills for over 300 yds. rushing what does anyone think the game plan for the Cardinals should be against the Bills. Do we try to get a consistent ground game going. Will the coaches dissect what the 49ers did to pound the Bills defense the way they did. With that kind of running game Smith looked like a perennial all pro throwing the ball because the Bills defense had to respect the run so much.

Sorry but I don't see us getting a consistent running game plan with our weak OL and inept RBs. That is one of the 49ers strength (of course so is their defense).

Let's just hope the multi-million dollar defensive line of the Bills stays asleep one more week.

That the Bills staying on the west coast for the week does what it does for the Cardinals when they do it on the east coast, and not what it does for the Niners.

The Bills are probably the easiest opponent the Cardinals will see till the bye week, so it is a bit of a must win.

The Cardinals SHOULD win, but the Bills can move the ball on offense, can run the ball, and have the potential on defense to give the Cardinals fits.

I can see this game being the key to this season. A loss here could send this team into a tailspin.

The 49ers came out passing. It's not that you win when you run; it's that you run when you win. When you're team jumps out to a 21-3 lead, you're going to run the ball more than a little bit. At that point, the clock becomes your opponent, not the team lining up across the field from you.

Alex Smith >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kevin Kolb, but the Cards should still come out passing.

Our idea of a gameplan is to win the toss and defer. Then get a pick six or PR for a TD. And if we're lucky, we won't have to play offense until the 2nd quarter.

Don't they always? The Cards didn't run on the first play of a drive against Miami until there was 6:33 left in the 3rd Quarter. 4 of the first 5 plays vs Rams were passes.

I think we're 65-35 on pass to run so far this season.

If I were the Bills, I'd drop 10 guys into coverage and rush Mario Williams. If that doesn't work, send another guy.

As for our game plan, we'd best hope that we have two healthy backs/TE's we can chip with.

I feel like our only shot at a productive offense for the remainder of the year is a no-huddle west-coast/run-and-shoot hybrid run exclusively out of the shotgun. That should give our QB's a second, or two, to make a throw.

Let's face it: we have no shot at a "productive offense" until Beanie comes back. I'm befuddled at why anyone thinks that William Powell might be "good." Ryan Williams wasn't very good, but we thought he was. Beanie Wells is good, but he's often hurt, and we don't like to give him the ball because he's not good at what we want him to do. LSH is good, but only 8 times per game.

Before the St. Louis game FootballOutsiders ranked us 29th in offensive efficiency. When we were at full strength, we weren't very good.

The problem is that we don't have a running back to play the run-n-shoot with.

What else can they run with the current "running backs"?

Jumbo package? Nope, not enough TE's.

Maybe we can trade Michael Floyd for MJD. I've tested in Madden, and it works there.

I don't know. I would just have Kevin Kolb dive forward every down. You give the defense slightly better field position.

Honestly, if we had one more "quick" receiver we could run a fast-break, run-and-shoot offense out of a four-WR set. Maybe we could with Doucet and Roberts on the inside and Housler and Fitz on the outside. But Kolb can't read the field very well; he seems to make worse decisions when he has time to actually survey from the pocket.

With the personnel that we have right now, I have no idea what would be a good or effective offense to run. But I can say that, when we kick off on Sunday, in our base offense (2RB/1TE), we have five legitimate NFL starters, three guys that you don't mind having on your roster, and three guys that are surprised they're collecting an NFL paycheck.

I don't care what anyone says.... Kolb tossing the ball 50 times a game or more, under ANY circumstance, is a recipe for disaster...

That said, we don't have any other choice of course, so, we all better be prepared for a very long remainder of the season...

The more I think about it, the less I feel that Ryan Williams' second trip to the IR will really affect us. With the exception of one drive, against an Eagles defense that had given up, he hasn't made any sort of positive impact on the field.

Yeah... I'm gonna try and get my fantasy team healthy on whatever defense is going to face off against Kevin Kolb for the foreseeable future.

Can you put together a scenario where this offense scores more than 17 points a game without two turnovers from the defense and maybe a defensive/special teams TD right now?

No... I honestly can't... In fact, I can't imagine how we'll get more than 5 first downs a game... :bang:

Is our current offense any better than 2010's because that team couldn't score 18.2 ppg with defense and special teams scoring 10 TDs.

It probably was but I don't know about now.

Maybe we could put Skelton back in and run the zone read spread offense until DDeuce gets sidelined again.

It was definitely better on paper coming into training camp. Was probably better at the beginning of the year. Probably about as good now (for different reasons), and will likely be worse by the end of the year barring a miracle.

We might just run an offense that's a series of Hail Marys.

The Bills are down to 5 healthy O linemen...they are beat up and have been outscored 90-10 in the last 6 quarters..this is a must win game!!!
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/08/bills-get-even-thinner-on-the-offensive-line/
Their OL has given up an average of just one sack per game and has allowed their ball carriers to average 100 - 120 yards on the ground.

Wipe out the 3 pts they eked out vs. SF and they're averaging somewhere in the mid - high twenties per game. On face value, what's been destroying them is subpar play by their defense (including listless play and lack of production by Mario Williams and other Buffalo defensive linemen). One telling stat - all 10 sacks have come from the Buffalo D-Line, which means zero sacks from blitzing LB's or DB's

All of which scares me. All that has to happen is that everyone on their defense gets mad enough to stick it to us.

We'd better get ready for a very physical contest.
