This is still one of the craziest moves:

Browns fire Rob Chudzinski

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10212566/rob-chudzinski-fired-cleveland-browns-head-coach

The Cleveland Browns fired coach Rob Chudzinski on Sunday night.

Less than a year after touting Chudzinski as one of the bright young coaches in the NFL and a guy CEO Joe Banner said he had his eye on for a long time, the Browns let him go after one season as coach.

The Browns still owe Chudzinski $10.5 million, league sources told ESPN Senior NFL Insider Chris Mortensen.

This is the third time the Browns have gotten rid of Chudzinski, who grew up a Cleveland fan in Toledo, Ohio.

Chudzinski coached the Browns tight ends for Butch Davis in 2004, and then returned to the team in '07, when he served two seasons as offensive coordinator under Romeo Crennel.

The Browns franchise makes the Ray-duhs look good in comparison. It must be painful to be a Browns fan. :bang:

Yeah... It's kind of madness. Don't know how you sell this to your fan base. This was designed to be a bad football team. Even with Horton and against a SOFT schedule, that defense finished 23rd in the NFL in DVOA. Apparently, Chud wanted too much input into personnel, and there's a cooks in the kitchen problem ongoing there.

That COULD be an interesting job for someone. Whomever comes in will have two first-round picks, a handpicked QB, some nice pieces on defense, a solid offensive line, and one of the five best wide receivers in the NFL (conservatively).

Schiano is definitely heading back to college, as that is where he's best suited. I don't see PSU hiring him, even though that job is perfect for him. PSU might be interested in Golden from the U.

Please Penn State. Take Al Golden from Miami.

Maybe Browns really wanted to lose out the season to get #1 pick in the draft and they couldn't acheive this because of HC. They tried by trading their RB. I am joking but it's the Browns...never know.

Frazier had to go. He handled that QB carousel horribly. There is some talent on that team and yet they found many ways to lose. Too many close losses where a coach could have made a difference.

The Glazers, of Tampa, are insane owners, as is Snyder in Washington. They don't know what they want. The Cleveland debacle is just that. Dysfunctional owners with dysfunctional organizations.

I'd add in on Frazier that he's a defensive head coach and that defense is a dumpster fire.

31st in total defense.
32nd in scoring defense.
30th in opponent QB rating.

I just think that the Glazers are absentee owners. They're much more interested in their European properties than their NFL franchise. I think they gave their front office and coach a ton of rope, and they hung themselves with it. That's going to be an interesting job for someone.

Two of the 10 choices for Redskins HC in John Clayton's opinion.

7. San Diego Chargers assistant coach Ken Whisenhunt: The fact he once played for the Redskins certainly doesn't hurt his case of the former tight end and Cardinals head coach. Another plus is he could bring along another ex-Redskin in Russ Grimm to coach the offensive line.

10. Former Arizona Cardinals assistant head coach Russ Grimm: Grimm has interviewed for several vacant positions throughout

I am thinking John spent too much time listening to Slayer and not enough time watching the Cardinals if he thinks Russ Grimm is that good.

What's even sadder is that Whiz still has his wagon hitched to Russ Grimm. You'd think he learned by now ...
