Brilliant movie. A lot of little things in there that are easy to miss, but are really cool. Natalie Portman was absolutely incredible in it.

And the effects, especially during the Black Swan dance at the end, were spectacular.
I heard it was all very forced.

Fantastic film! Natalie Portman was un-freaking-believable in that role.

She has to win Best Actress. By far the best performance I have seen in a long time.

Really an outstanding movie, intelligent, and quite a ride. Everyone was excellent, film is visually compelling, very well-paced. It's a dark film psychologically, but I didn't find it depressing or bleak in the slightest.

Reminded me just a little bit of Fellini, or maybe All That Jazz in the sense of experiencing an inner-outer downward spiral under pressure, but without the extremes or the grotesque humor.

All That Jazz is a great parallel, except I hate All That Jazz. :D

I was telling my wife as we were heading to the car after the movie that this movie will be played in Psych 101 classes on college campuses all around the country within a few years. That was some serious psychotic breakage....

You hate All That Jazz?! One of my top all-time movies.

But anyway, yeah, the blurring and reversal of dreams/reality, the self-destructive obsession with perfection, the inability to connect with or trust a single soul -- made me also think of Juliet of the Spirits.

Very good film indeed. I'd give an Oscar to Portman for that performance. Looks like Annette Bening (The Kids Are Alright) will be her toughest competition, but Portman's role was much more demanding, imo. Also, the entire cast of The Kids Are Alright was really good so Bening's performance did not stand out as much to me.

Funny story - my mom and a few of her friends (all women in their 60's) went to see this. They got disgusted, walked out, and complained to theater management. The manager said they had gotten many complaints, apologized, and gave them all a pass to see another film at any Harkins' theater.

Why complain to the management? They didn't produce the movie, they're just showing it. This is as silly as complaining to a book store because the book you bought was horrible.

You mean the scene where a young Joe Gideon spooges his white tuxedo pants wasn't gripping enough or did you not buy Roy Scheider as a choreographer?

Didn't see this post until it was quoted, but what you are saying here is that your mom (and her friends) abdicated their personal responsibility and expected a handout on the back end of it. Okay. Got it. Thanks for sharing this enlightening story....

Harkins wants customers to be satisfied. If you're ever unhappy with theater quality, sound quality, picture quality, or even movie content they will almost always give you a pass for another time.

So long as you understand that welfare teet-suckers cause higher ticket prices for regular, paying customers.

Right?

I really enjoyed this movie - although at one point I had to quite trying to figure out what was really going on and just go for the ride

Fight Club for Ballerinas. Amazing film. Aronofsky's back on it after the travesty that was The Fountain. Great style, great sets, great lighting, make up, acting, script, characters.

Best film Ive seen in some time.

I also must say that I absolutely loved the soundtrack in this - the music was just griping and fit the mood & scenes perfectly, IMO

Just saw this and I have to say it was brilliant. Took a while getting started but once it got going it was great.

ok.. So I thought the movie overall was..good..

"The Scene" as it shall be known hence forth was fan-freaking-tastic and completey worth the admission and your tie for seeing the movie...

By the end of it though I just sat there with the WTF face for a while, trying to figure out how I just got mind-F$#@ED and trying to make sense of the end...

SPOILER ALERT because I don't know how to do that fancy hide thing, scroll down and highlight

Can someone explain the end.. Ok so she really stabs herself.. yet dances for the entire show before bleeding out and everyone finaly noticing.. I get that is not the point of the story and it was all about her reality vs acual reality but when you as the auidence are expected to accept the actual reality that she dies in the end, or is it all a dream? Thanks to anyone that can answer!!...

I'm still not sure if she really stabbed herself or not. If she did, how did she not bleed during the Black Swan scene or the final scene?
