It would be mostly about moving Knight's contract. I agree, it's hard to see how it works right now.
That's not going happen.

This is one of those things where I knew it was probably a good thing for the Suns, but I really didn't want it to happen because I just dont like the guy. I mean I dont "Lebron" dislike him, but I was going to feel cheap and dirty everytime I cheered for him. lol
Oh it already isMight end up being the best deal the Suns never made.
He Brock Marion'd the Suns...or Joe Montana'd them...lolGeez, totally used Suns as a little leverage to get clipps to pay up
Good grief. Griffin would have moved the needle a lot. I am ok that we did not get him because I don't like Jonas a person but he would have advanced us toward our goal quickly without risking much.
Moving on.
It would be a mistake to try to jump start the process now that it's finally begun. We really did only begin the rebuild a year or two ago. The four or five years before that were utterly wasted, after Nash left but when Sarver wouldn't let the team tank. Kept trying to win and ended up defining mediocre. Not good enough for the playoffs, not sucky enough for the lottery, picking 14th and staying nowhere every year. Becoming a place FA's didn't want to go. They didn't blow it up nearly soon enough. Now that we have a great team of 20 year olds, we need to stay that course carefully. They're not good enough yet to win a playoff series, even with one overpriced free agent who would accomplish nothing more than wasting $150,000,000 of Sarver's money. We don't need to add experience to this roster. These players will be the experienced veterans themselves in two years more, ready to win as a seasoned group if they get the starters minutes now. Our goal now shouldn't be to win but to get these guys better ASAP.
Great article by Yahoo about the Clippers resigning Blake Griffin. They compare the Clippers retaining him to the recent deals that OKC made for George and Houston made for Chris Paul. It's discussed how being stuck in the middle in the NBA is a terrible place to be, it's better to swing for the fences and miss than decide to commit to mediocrity. That's something Suns fans know too well from the final Nash years. If you miss, and don't clearly have a plan to get better in the next year or two, then it's better to bottom out and rebuild than to just be content being mediocre. After losing Chris Paul, they were in prime position to reload by letting Griffin walk. The money they're paying him will hinder any plans they have for the next few years and Griffin won't be getting any better, especially with his injury history, so they're in a really tough spot. They've almost become the Donald Sterling Clipper's again.
They don't talk about the Suns but I think any Suns fan can see the author's POV. Griffin staying in LA with the Clippers for 5 years and $173 million is a huge deal that could keep them locked into being a team that barely makes the playoffs only to get squashed. There are many more attractive destinations for other free agents out there if they really want to try and compete for a title and the Clippers aren't one of those teams anymore.

Both the Rockets and Thunder are taking risks but it's either that or be content being a team that can't get out of the 1st or 2nd round. OKC & Houston took big risks that may not pan out in the long term but they should be better for it this season. They'll be in position to potentially challenge GS, with some luck on their side. They weren't beating GS before and they might not now but at least they're giving it a shot. Neither is in a worse position than before they made their deals.
Wait a sec... you say the article makes great points... but you were all for doing the exact same thing with Griffin and to an even worse lesser extent with Milsap.
The only free agent I'm interested in is Chris Paul, even then it depends on the price. Maybe if he was interested in coming here we could work out a sign and trade for Bledsoe. If we could bring in Paul then maybe explore the option of Griffin.
If the Suns make a move this year it will be with Bled, Booker, Warner and Chandler. You think any of the picks the last two years are going to carry this team. Your Dreaming. You just have to hope they can hold the line as the second unit.
