If Sarver is forcing McD to rush the rebuild YET refuse to push to sign stars... then I can see McD resigning after next season.

Suns have butter knives in a gun fight western conference.

If Sarver is desperate to get to the playoffs... he will be pushing to get Cousins, Love etc.

Love is key... if the Suns fail to get him, McD has little choice but to sell the farm for Cousins... which makes the Suns STILL a non playoff team until next season as they sign FAs around Cousins.

There is nothing in McD's power that will net Love or Cousins.

Keep in mind we were 'rebuilt' with a 48-34 season before mcd went and ruined a good thing.

He's got 2 off seasons - this one and the next - to show that we're heading in the right direction. If we're not and he gets fired that's fine with me, but to suggest he should resign out of undue pressure at that point would make a mockery of his underperformance.

Our best option right now is to give Bledsoe the keys and put him in the best light possible. Get him up to 20, 6, and 6 again and then the options will increase.

stockpile assets, DEVELOP ASSETS, jump on opportunities when they come

Yep, this team just seems to come up short each draft and free agency period. I think this is exactly spot on. stock pile assets and hope it turns into moves down the road.

It's the same thing as always. There are no assets to stockpile if the team is losing and doesn't have a #1 player. Once the team turns it around, now you have players you aren't willing to part with. The "stockpiling assets" strategy is a dead end.

Which is a scary proposition. If you can't lure free agents, stock piling picks doesn't help you move up in the draft (it didn't even help Boston), what is left for the Suns to do?

Get lucky. That's pretty much it. Every bad team in the league is trying to do the same things, most of them are competently managed, and only a few will succeed.

Have an "injury" (not that they arent real injuries, just fortunate and timely) that allows you to move up in the draft while being perceived as being competitive long term.

Kobe's achilles
David Robinson's back

Otherwise, the turnaround has to be Golden State style. They did it with picks and selective trades and free agent signings.

You have to work on your front office atmosphere. It has to be upbeat, confident, and player friendly. Same with the locker room. You have to be careful to maintain an atmosphere that allows young talent to grow and that quality vets desire.

The last, and least likely way is to completely decimate the roster and hope you can get two or three top level free agents to collaborate a Miami style turnaround. That has worked only once.

I do not see any other way.

yup... GS did it by absolutely hitting home-runs in the mid-late lotto and later in the draft (Curry, Thompson, Green), no matter where they were and making smart acquisitions.

I have to wonder sometimes. Most of these players being drafted are pretty good. Is their success or failure as much a matter of the environment of the team, coaching, and development. Sometimes its just the fact that a coach sees their potential and gives them playing time.

How is Draymond Green different from other players that don't make it.

You have to select well. But you also have to handle your players well once you draft them.
