I think we need to start over rather than try to build around what we already have in place. If I were in charge I'd start fielding offers for Fitzgerald--as great as he is as a player and as a person, it doesn't make sense to build a team around a receiver.

Overreaction? Maybe. Is it the mid-season cardinals blues? Possibly. But I still think there's merit in the idea.

I think you've misinterpreted my post. My issue isn't with Fitz -- it's with the manner in which the team is built and the lack of cohesive, complementary talent around him.

Too late we are past the trading deadline. You'll have to wait until the season is over.

As I said when the Cards were looking for a QB, Kolb was the last one I would have went after. He's not an NFL caliber type QB.

Pariah, I agree with you, the Cardinals have to start all over. We're bact to where we were before Warner, who played his own game and didn't listen to Whisenhunt or anyone else on the coaching staff.

Whisenhunt and the total staff has to go, Graves has to go and Bidwill has to hire real NFL caliber GM and coaching staff instead of all these impersonators. Trade Kolb and Wilson if you can get anything for them. I'd rather have Skelton starting and Wilson is done as an impact player. We all know the rest of the old guys that have to go. Obtain as many Draft picks as you can.

As Fans we can not wait another 40 years for a winner, I'm 68 I won't make it.

Unless Kolb shows by season's end that he can be an above average QB, I absolutely agree with you. He'd have more value to this franchise as a future asset than he would as an aging star receiver. We need to scrap the system and everyone that is a part of that and in so doing we'll probably set ourselves back another 2 or 3 years.

By the time this team could start to be relevant again, Fitz would have little to no trade value. I doubt that it will happen though. I suspect they'll hang on to him way too long and for pretty much the same reasons that the Suns continue to hang on to Steve Nash (ticket sales, jerseys etc).

I dont think trading away stars make your team better. We learned that by trading Boldin. Not keeping Dansby.

We will never improve if we dont keep our best players and keep adding around them.

I thought this was a thread about azcardinals.com

Apparently they blew it up or at least shut it down. I've never in my life seen a board to shut down because the Mods can't handle it. Has that ever happened here?

I dont' think so, but I believe it has happened there before.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but please I don't see why anybody would be overly upset about the loss. I'm not sure anyone working with a full deck of cards had us winning that game. Anyways how do you get an avatar around here?

The 1st item on Whisenhunts itinerary was for the players to have much more discipline and accountability. Well it's worst than even with Denny. 12 to 15 penelties every game and absolutly no accountability with the coaching staff, especially on Whisenhunts part. Under this regime there is no, well no nothing.

Anyways I still think this team has a lot of talent on it. We're so weak on the Offencive line, and in the linebacking core It's my personal opinion It makes the whole team look a lot worse than it really is. Plus I'm staring to dought the Whiz. Depends on who is make the personal decisions.

PS and thanks for the info.....

I would be all for this if we brought in a proven football mind in the personnel department first. I can't see anyone in the organization right now that knows what it takes to build a winner.

That's not what he's suggesting. He's talking about blowing it all up and starting over. It includes trading away a star but it's nothing like what happened when we traded Boldin or when we let other quality players walk. Dump the GM, dump the coaching staff, sell any assets that are at or near the mid-point of their career and start again from the ground floor. At least, that's my interpretation of what Pariah was suggesting.

Fitz is a Game Changer.

I can see your point with Fitz. You could get alot of pieces for him. It's a borderline argument. But I side with keeping him and here's why. Fitz is a true game changer. One of the handful of guys in the NFL that you must gameplan for. The type of guy that keeps coordinators up at night, demanding double and triple teams on every play. These guys win playoff games for you if used properly. Look at the playoff game against Atlanta. It was a joke. Warner was throwing jump balls and Fitz came down with every one. It wasn't even fair.

How many true game changers are there in the NFL? What 10? Maybe 12? Most teams don't even have one. If you do have one of these 10 or 12 guys, you break the bank to keep him on your team. Thankfully, the FO was smart enough to realize this. The NBA is the same way. Dwight Howard's worth once came into question. The correct answer was 'the whole team'. You would trade the entire Orlando Magic roster in order to keep Howard. And the same goes for the other 10 to 12 NBA Game Changers, with some exceptions. And the same goes for Fitz. Except not the entire 53 man roster of course. But surely an NBA sized roster of 12.

Edit:
I was just thinking, how many true game changers have the Cardinals had in their history? I can think of 2, maybe 3. Fitz, Warner, and maybe Otis Anderson. (Not sure about Otis. That was a long time ago, so I was too young to fully appreciate Otis.)

Trade Dockett for a 2nd and a 4th in the offseason. He isn't a great leader, and his skills don't work in our scheme. Get value you while you can. He might not be the problem, but he definitely isn't a solution.

See the Cowboys of Jimmy Johnson. That's exactly what he did.

Or we could end up like Denver...

Ugh

We over paid Fitz IMO, trading him is a terrible idea, the only worse idea would be wasting all that money on a WR with a screen door on a submarine blueprint for the rest of the team.

We officially suck, time to start over but not with these guys running the team or the FO.

So what will we do?

We'll return everyone again next year and keep trying to make stupid work for us.

Cause that's what we do!
