Your evaluating a Manager's performance compared to what a fan could do says it all.

As the old joke goes, by his Father, he's a Manager. By his Mother, he's a Manager. But by a Manager . . . he's no Manager. :D

....so what is he by his brother? what a ridiculous "joke".

No more than what it was in response to, "yes, you could allll do it better, every one of you."

Compared to the average fan, Bob Melvin is a Major League manager.

Compared to a Major League manager, he has limitations.

The only rediculous thing is that alot of very talented young players are in his hands. I'd hate to see their potential wasted.

Bob Melvin's style could get by with a veteran team. It does not bode well for the development of youngsters.

Cute phrase, but what's its merit when the Manager of the Year award is voted on by other managers?

Yup, they sure took the wind out of my sails. :)

My frustration is that our teams seem to play for a fun and profitable regular season, but not for the post-season.

There have been a couple of exceptions. The D'backs with Johnson and Schilling. The Mercury this year by providing rebounders.

The Suns talked about trades, but did not improve at its power positions.

The D'backs seem content to field a team without a legitimate leadoff hitter or cleanup hitter.

So close, but so far.
