Totally desperate to get rid off White or Eisley in the expansion draft and 2 less draft picks to use as bait.

3M$ cash, a forever protected Cavs pick, and a top5 Suns pick.

I wonder how much the Bobcats are going to demand for bailing us out.

Oh yeah and we only got into this situation because of trading Googs and trading for White.

Because of the Knicks pick, isn't it impossible for us to trade another first rounder? The exact reason that Cleveland can't trade any of their first rounders (because our committment isn't fulfilled), and you can't trade first rounders back to back. I'm probably missing something though.

Time to Forget About Kobe

The Suns will not clear enough cap space to go after Kobe. If it took two draft picks just to save a few bucks in luxury tax - it will be impossible to get Kobe without a trade.

The only way this deal has even a remote chance of making sense is if they re-sign Clark for a minimal contract and he returns to the status he was three years ago. Otherwise, this is the Phoenix version of the Boston Red Sox selling Babe Ruth for cash.

I think you're right. In fact I never believed that he will leave the Lakers (as I've said many times), but if he does, what little chance the Suns may have had of being in the running is pretty much shot now.

The chances of signing Kobe were slim and none to begin with.
People that like to say the offseason is a bust unless the Suns sign Kobe are not being realistic.

I thought that the Bobcats had already agreed to take White for $3m and the Cleveland pick.

If it's Kobe or nothing, though, what's the point in moving White in the first place? Might as well keep him around...

No its not.

After the trade the Suns have the flexibility to build a team with or without Kobe. With Marbury (and Penny) the suns were stuck with the team they had.

I don't believe the entire reason to trade Marbury was to get Kobe. It is a false premise.

We still can't build a team around them with 1 FA and then we are over the cap already again and can only add 1 MLE player per offseason.

If we don't get Kobe we traded a superstar for a role player and role players in the future.

It would have been much better to trade Marbury for pieces that this team needs in that case. Trade Marbury for a McGrady or Pierce or whatever.

They are saying that the Phoenix Suns will trade Jahidi White to the Charlotte bobcats for a first-round draft pick (most likely Cleveland's) and the $3 million cash.

Hold on... now they are saying that the Phoenix Suns will TRY to make that trade. Well, now I really have a problem with today's trade. What happens when the Charlotte bobcats want more than just Cleveland's first-round draft pick? On the Phoenix Suns going to be left wondering if they could have had Kobe Bryant if they had just held onto that draft pick?

Gambo also said a few minutes ago that there was another trade involving Boston, Phoenix, and San Antonio that was close. The general people involved were Malik Rose going to Boston with one of the Phoenix Suns first-round draft picks this upcoming summer, Jahidi White or Howard Eiseley (almost certainly White) going to San Antonio, and expiring contracts coming to Phoenix. The deal did not go through because Ainge wanted the Phoenix Suns lottery pick. He said that also tried to trade for Rasheed Wallace to make moves like Atlanta.

personally, if the suns brought in kobe to me that would be the real downer of the season. the idea that we would go after a true POS like kobe almost makes me sick.
