Just keeping touch here, because many Suns fans feel like he is an important asset.

He is averaging 9.3 pts, 3 boards and .5 steals after 6 games of the 2015 season. Shooting .408 overall and .412 from the three. His scoring averages have declined for the last three years (so far) although he did switch teams in that time.

I do not think that any Suns fan should get their hopes up about this guy, or consider him some important future piece. He is easily a trade throw-in if it gets something done.

What you're seeing is that he is not shooting well near the hoop but very well from outside. The guy is an outside shooter, I'm not going to stress those stats. You're also only looking at the stats he has put up in the big European Cup, that does not include his stats within his domestic league.

If you scroll a bit down this page you'll see more of his stats.

http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Bogdan-Bogdanovic/Summary/24809

His shooting percentages there are 51% and 42%, while scoring about 14 in 26 minutes per game.

Also, the team he played on initially goes against mostly Serbian competition, while the two Turkish teams are among the most elite squads in Europe.

He has been voted as the "Rising Star" of the European Leagues two years in a row, joining Nikola Mirotic as the only player to do so. I'm excited to see what he can bring.

Yes! Bring him over next season.

While I don't follow European basketball as closely as I used to, I can tell you that stats mean less than they would in the NBA or even in college. It is rare for a player to average more than 10-12 points on a really good team. Big men who dominate the paint average a bit more and back before going into the NBA early, there were big time players like Galis, Danilovic, Sabonis, Bodiroga, etc who had great individual stats, but that's rare.

You are wrong, the players averaging more are also by the way usually not big man but combo guards such as Malcom Delaney, Jacob Pullen, Nando de Colo, Teodosic, Smith, Gentile etc..

Overall individual stats are much lower though since games are shorter, assists are more strict and the game in general much less star oriented.

Delaney is the top scorer at 18ppg in 32mpg.

Also you are exaggerating the past a lot. Bodiroga was the star of European Basketball but he was also only putting up basically 15/4/2 in euroleague , I would hardly call that "great".

Scoring better than 10 ppg already put you into the top 50 scorer in the euro league.

Bogdan's stats are fine, but we will never know what we are getting until he gets here and plays.

I think Slin's last line is the key. We just don't know. I would not get my hopes up though.

What I like about Bogdan is what I despise about guys like Dragic and Mirotic. He is not a nice guy, he is very assertive, and he is not intimidated. I can't wait for him to get here.

Bogdan is the best young player under 23 in Europe right now, not necessarily the best prospect but the best as it is.

How big is he? What positional role could he fill on the Suns?

Yea we really do need some of that on this team.

Yes! Bring him over next season.

I honestly thought they should have brought him over before this season. Rather than signing Weems, they should have just brought this kid over he can't be any worse.

I don't know how much value he has but maybe we can package Bogdan with the Cleveland pick and add a second pick in the teens?

I do think the Suns could package Bogdan and the Cleveland pick and get a pick in the teens but for who in a supposed weak draft?

If I consider this I want a player in return not a draft pick. I think keeping Bogdan is a less risky option since he has been scouted extensively.

I don't think it's all that weak. I see several big men in this draft that intrigue me and it's supposed to be a fairly balanced class. If Bogdan can bring us a starter quality player in return I think that makes more sense than overloading the shooting guard position. If longterm he's nothing more than a quality backup then keeping him is fine but with Booker, Knight and Goodwin the position already looks a little crowded.

As for "who" might be available? One or two of these might go in the top 10 but most of this group will drop: Diamond, Rabb, Sabonis, Poeltl, Zimmerman, Ellenson and Diallo. And I'm sure there's other players of interest.

Ah, the connection to Milos Vujanic is starting to come full circle, just as I predicted. Soon, including "the rights to Bogdan" in trade scenarios will become this generation's running joke.

I don't get the reference. But the idea of trading the rights to an international player obviously isn't new.

I understand where you are coming from. I'm thinking the Suns might trade Knight but we shall see. I guess I view Bogdan as more than a draft pick stashed overseas. He may have more proven value that a draft pick in the teens in this draft. I'd prefer to use him for a proven player if necessary. However, the Suns can use another big man like Bobby Portis. Surprisingly he went #22 but could have gone much earlier.

Years ago, Phoenix got the right to Vujanic, who was a very good player in Europe. He kept postponing going to the NBA, and then suffered a bad injury. "Trading rights to Vujanic" became a running joke for many years, even after his career-limiting injury.
