Anyone else watching this game? There are two guys on the Wolfpack's defense that I am liking.

Dontay Moch: This guy has some pass rushing skills. He can beat the tackles on the outside and I saw him run a stunt and beat the guard and center on the inside. He's got speed and strength and could be a decent OLB in the 3-4.

If this rumor is true, he goes in the mid to late first round.

However, this site has him ranked as #109 which would put him in the 4th round.

If we have an early 2nd round pick (and I think that we will) I would take him.

James Michael-Johnson: He's looked pretty stout this game against the run as an inside linebacker. He is only a JR but he looks like he has the size and instincts to be a thumper at ILB. I think he could complement Daryl Washington.

I like the TE, Virgil Green as well. He just looks like a solid football player.

Uh, maybe there is a reason this kid is a "former walk-on" kicker.

Missed two huge kicks (basically chip shots each time too).

Boise did get shafted earlier in the game by the refs, IMHO.

When it was 24-14 they recovered a muffed kick inside the 10 yard line. But the refs said they did not give the returner enough room. The replay showed the returner was dropping the ball well before the defender got close to him.

Huge momentum play. Boise would have punched in another score from that close and it likely would have been 31-14, but instead Nevada got the ball plus penalty yardage and went on to score to make it 24-21.

Good game and good win by Nevada

I feel bad for the kicker .... at the end of it all he's still just a student who will have to shoulder choking away one of the bigger opportunities in the programs history .... i hope some jack wagon doesn't do something stupid back on campus .... really feel for the kid

Both are good programs and I wish them both success in their respective bowl appearances

Some good football today

I dont feel bad for the kicker at all. He choked (twice) plain and simple and he should feel like crap. I dont want anyone to beat him up but wow, he is learning early in life that rarely do you get a chance at complete redemption 5 mins after you failed the first time,,,, to fail again? Wow, just wow.

Why is Bert talking about Neil Rackers on the Boise State v Nevada thread?

Bah - Kid was a walk on and has had a very nice career there and has played integral parts in many of there best wins (including the BCS games)

There isn't a player out there who played a perfect game - his will unfortunately get the highlight and i'm sure some underachieving dopes will run up on him for it, which is unfortunate

He will feel bad and he should feel bad .... but he shouldn't have to endure 1/4 of the predictable crap that will come his way

This guy is a serious, probably multi-year project. Most legitimate pass rushers have at least one pass rush move, be it a club, rip, shoulder dip or bull rush and Moch hasn't shown he has any. The only thing he has going for him is his speed and first step. That works in college, but not in the pro's. He's been known to take alot of plays off, and his overall effort has been severely lacking at times. At times he just looks completely clueless as his football instincts are pretty bad. Is also said that he is not the brightest kid.

He does have great speed, he is a workout warrior in the gym and he has that shorter, stockier build ala Elvis Dumervil and James Harrison though. I wouldn't take him before the late 5th round. Too much of a project considering our needs.

What a great great day for watching college football!

All the key games were nailbiters...and come from behind gems.

These were the college playoffs!

Right now, especially with a lockout brewing in the NFL, the college football product is superior to that of the NFL.

The games are MUCH more fun to watch...they are faster, far fewer delays and wasting of time...

Plus...the rules of the college game, IMO, are just what they should be...

(1) One foot in bounds.
(2) Clock stops on 1st downs with under 2:00 left.
(3) 15 yards for pass interference.
(4) Booth takes care of reviews...and they do it promptly...no hood action.
(5) The DB cannot force an airborne WR out of bounds

And, perhaps most of all, the OT rules are outstanding...they are much more fair and much more exciting...AND...best of all, there are no ties.

What a day for QBs yesterday...there were tremendous performances by Cam Newton (Auburn), Greg McElroy (Alabama), Darron Thomas (Oregon), Nick Foles (Arizona), Colin Kaepernick (Nevada) and Kellen Moore (Boise St.).

Hypothesis and others...what are your thoughts on these QBs?

Here are some quick ones...

Newton is big and smooth...plays very well within himself...but I am not sure how quickly he will adjust to the speed of the NFL.

McElroy reminds me of Bob Griese...just totally smart and efficient. And he has an in-sync chemistry with stud WR Julio Jones that is Warner-Fitz-esque.

Foles forced a couple of bad balls, but man, was he good at seeing the whole field and picking out 3rd and 4th options? Very impressive. Good size and arm, too.

Kaepernick...6-6, 220 rocket arm with what 4.4 speed? How about the on-the-money passes down the stretch, especially the game tying out pass to his left. Wow. Plus, it was freezing out there and he showed no signs of being affected by it.

Moore...one of those uncanny QBs who almost always does the right thing at the right time. Smart and instinctive...plays very well within himself and the system. And with that last bomb (unreal play wasn't it?) to Titus Young, maybe he put to rest some of the issues about his ability to throw the deep ball.

If there is any solace for the Boise St. kicker...and you have to feel awful for the poor kid...a walk-on, no less...it's this:

Boise St. was never going to get the BCS nod for the championship game. Never. Too many politics.

Neither will TCU.

Won't happen.

But, as we saw last night...a college playoff format would be sensational, and would give the Boise Sts, TCUs and Nevadas the chance they deserve...which is what is so GREAT about March Madness, isn't it?

If ARZ doesn't get either Luck or Mallett, this is the guy I hope they get. His measurables and speed are remarkable for a pro-style QB. His career numbers are also pretty impressive. He is probably going in the 4th or 5th round but he is probably on the same level as everyone not named Luck or Mallett.

Good game.

Good game in Little Rock as Arkansas knocks off #5 LSU. With 6 seconds left in the first half Arkansas got the ball inside their own 20. Take a knee. Right! Not really as Ryan Mallet throws a hummer over the middle to our fastet runner for an 86 yard TD. The same receiver also catches one on the sidelines for an 84 yd TD. He threw a couple of dumb interceptions but also threw for over 300 yds for the 8th time this year and three TD's. He may have one of the best receiving corps in the nation and the best receiver has been out for the past 5 games. He is going to be the #2 or #3 QB taken in the draft. He looks a lot like Manning as he is always running around pointing at people and changing plays. I am not saying he is a Peyton Manning but he sure has his mannerisms and arm strength. We really have an awsome RB who is a sophomore. He is only 18 years old. He ran for 186 yds two weeks agi and was the SEC RB of the week. He ran for over 150 yds the following week and tonight he ran for 180+ again against a tough LSU. For an 18 year old that is awsome. He is 225 lbs and runs a 4.4. At 18 I assume he is still growing and bench presses 360 now. He is one of the best players you have never heard of. Kniles Davis. Remember that name.

I'm really sad for the Boise kids!!! I've been following them pretty religiously for 4 years now & really believe they can beat anyone in the country. Great Head Coach & luv Kellen Moore!!! As you say Mitch, I'm not sure there is a smarter QB in the country & he just keeps getting better. Someone may have a real find of a highly underrated player at the QB position in Moore after next season.

Kellen Moore will be lucky to make it through his first training camp IMO. The guy is smaller than Pat White and has horrible accuracy and zip on passes beyond 10 yards. I wouldn't say he's all that football smart considering he runs a very easy gimmicky offense.

He might not make it at the next level, but the above statement is completely off the wall!!! You obviously haven't watched the guy play more than a few games in his career, if that.

I concur don't dog on Moore. Nevada fans are huge Boise fans when they don't Play the pack. And Moore is a solid Qb. That said I would rather have Kapernick as a Cards QB.

These kinds of upsets are the best thing in college football. Boise has had many shining moments the last few years, I can't feel too sorry for them.

As for the QBs, Moore has really gone up in my estimation. He's saavy, clutch and can make the necessary throws the NFL requires (unlike Max Hall). Kapernick seems like more of a project for the NFL.

Very surprised Mitch you made no mention of Ryan Mallet. He threw for 320 yards and three TDs against LSU the number 5 rated team in the nation and beat them. Yes he had a couple of interceptions but he knows how to get the ball down field in a hurry. I doubt any of the guys you mentioned will go ahead of Mallet in the draft. I can see two guys going ahead of him maybe and he will be in the top ten taken in the draft. Luck and Newton are likely to go ahead of him. Newton may not as the last I looked he was listed at #18 on the big board. Luck at #1 and Mallet at #8. That can all change after the bowl games and NFL camp. I hope we take the highest one rated when it comes our turn and I do not care who it is. Just do not try and reach thinking you are smarter than everyone else. There was a reason Leinart was still there at #12 when we drafted him. Some of the teams saw some things they did not like such as having a group of pros playing all around him.
