Matts throw yesterday while in the middle of the field where his route was designed the throw was WAY high and left Boldin completely unprotected and defenseless as he went up to get it. Not really the same IMO.

I'm not gonna defend Leinarts bad play for most of the day yesterday. Shane, I believe you are wrong with saying Matt was the reason for Quan's injury. If you watch the play again, I think much of the blame should be on the Oline. 3 guys (Seindlein, Wells, Deuce) all stood around as 2 defenders blew past them basically unblocked. One guy was in Leinarts face as he threw the ball hitting him in the head & arm limiting his follow thru & also causing the pass to be high. Matt played bad & has on numerous occasions now, but it isn't always his fault, there are other factors involved.

I just don't get it. We should have treated this game like a bye week for the starters. This team looked fantastic coming off the bye week and Warner has looked great after returning from missing games. Why play the starters at all? WTF was the point? I don't give a damn how close Boldin was to 1,000 yards or Fitz was to 100 receptions and 13 touchdowns. This is a TEAM sport and it's best for the TEAM if nobody gets hurt in a meaningless game when every starter could use a rest. Terrible coaching decision. TERRIBLE.

You guys can think I'm "smug" all you want.

Im a Cards fan first and foremost! I root for Matt and root for him hard. Him succeeding is only HUGE benefit to us. I certainly don't root for him to fail.

But the blind support he gets on here after all the miserable performances is mind numbing.

He should be able to manage a game at this point in his career. I dont expect him to be Warner. But I do expect him to make accurate throws and not turn the ball over.

You win the award...far and away for the most sensible post about matt...it is indeed a shame to this point...we all expected more...he had the luxury of watching and learning from arguably the best around....we have not seen the small print in the contract, but he may be history.....how about anderson (browns) for matt straight up,,,holmgren might be a big plus,,,,quinn? don't think they would do that one.

Unbelievable. You have got to be kidding me.

Thanks for the giggles this morning.

A lil late to the party? Or did you just forget about our other Convo in this thread?

Yes. Work does that to me more and more recently.

I said that I respectfully disagree.

But if we want to continue to talk about it.....

You do not blame Warner when the ball was leading Q into getting sandwiched by 2 defenders above the shoulders, and yet you blame Leinart for an ankle and knee injury.

Got it.

Exactly how I see it as well. Very plain, cut & dry actually... Leinart totally exposed Q (as he always does). Warner's throw was spot-on. Additionally, Leinart's throw was easily 25 yards shorter than was Warner's. There was no excuse (as is often the case with Matty's high throws) for Matt to throw the ball so high, causing Q to jump and expose himself to what resulted in an awkward hit... Warner's throw was 30 yards further downfield, and still it perfectly led Q...

I see double standards being applied here....

Again, the soup de jour is bagging on Leinart....

Carry on.

I've made the comment more than once over the last several years - that Leinart will single-handidly shorten the careers of both Fitz and Q. Many here attacked me for making this claim, but I still stand by it today. Leinart is a train-wreck waiting to happen. Because of his inadequacies, he will continue to cause collateral damage all over the field, in the form of losses and player injuries. It's simply pure luck that he hasn't caused more injuries. That luck will quickly dry up once he becomes a starter and is throwing the ball 30 or more times a game...

Warner's pass was an accurate one that is thrown every game. It was unfortunate that both the defenders met him at the same time.

Leinart's passes are innacurate causing the WRs to move into positions that can be highly prone to injuries.

When it comes to accuracy you cannot even mention Leinart in the same breath as Warner. Warner is one of the more accurate passers of all time. That does not mean he will never throw a bad pass or expose a receiver. Leinart has done this on a regular basis. From all I have seen we had better be looking for a backup or perhaps a starter for next year. If Warner retires I think we will find the best we can in the FA market or even a trade. I do not see us starting the year with Matt based on what he has shown. If I were a receiver I would pray that Warner stays at least another year and that Matt is in no case the starter. Matt has been here long enough he should have shown a lot more than he has. I think his confidence is almost non existent at this point. You can see it in his face. Now might be a good time to look over the FA QB's available next year. We do not want to start the off season with Kurt in limbo not knowing what he wants to do and let any half way decent FA QB get picked up.

What do both of those plays have in common?

Boldin shouldn't have been in on either play....

Boldin Injury last year: 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter, down by 21 points.

Why is he still in the game?
Why are we throwing a dangerous pass over the middle to him?

Boldin injury this year: 2nd half of a meaningless game, already down big, a week away from the playoffs.

I love our coach but he is careless with his players. Sometimes I really just dont know what is going through his head. Boldin has been injured all season, he couldn't give him 1 game off to rest? Same goes for Kurt. Leinart threw a horrible pass but if he had jacked up Urbans knee we'd be no worse for wear.

Thank you Shane for being the voice of reason in most of these threads.

BUT..... I for one am not going to bash Matt though... Until a guy gets 95% of the reps in preseason and camp and during the weeks.... I'm not bashing him. This guy is still young in QB terms and is learning behind one of the game's greats. Hardly anyone would look good coming in after Warner.

He wasn't wide open or else he wouldn't have been sandwiched as soon as the ball got there. Focusing on that is getting sidetracked, though. This conversation started because a bunch of you guys are trying to demonize Leinart for something that was nothing more than an off-target through. He didn't throw in to coverage, he didn't lead Boldin in to a defender, he simply threw high. It happens. Even Kurt Warner, who is one of the most accurate passers in history, has been throwing high pretty regularly this year. In the 49ers game when Fitz was running a deep route Kurt overthrew him so that he had to dive for the ball and the 49er landed on his knee which took him out of the game for a while and was a scary situation. No one made a big deal about the throw because it was just an inaccurate pass. I'm sure if it was Matt who threw it you guys would be on him for almost injuring Larry.

I just can't take your opinion on this seriously when you trashed Matt in about 4 different threads on Sunday and have been continuing every day since then. We're about the host a playoff game this weekend and you guys just want to talk about how much you hate Matt Leinart. I think that's pretty lame. He might not be the best QB in the league but in the last few days posters are jumping all over him criticizing him for every little thing. Calling him a douchebag, bringing up his offseason party from a few years ago, etc. His pass to Boldin the other day was one that we see from every QB all the time, it just happens that this time the WR came down awkward.

FWIW, my bagging on Leinart has been more like a "La soupe de l'An"... I've been bagging on Leinart since the day Fatso drafted him.
;)

If he was on any other team you'd be openly rooting for him to fail. You just don't like him because of the way he lives his life and both your hate of Matt and fandom of Kurt go beyond the football field.

The way he lives his life?? Huh? Unless you know things I don't, I have no clue about how Matty lives his life. Nor do I care how he lives his life. All I care about is how he lives his life on the football field. And from my point of view, he's lived an immensely crappy life thus far!
Also, unless you know things I don't, I have no idea what would cause you to say that my "fandom" of Kurt "goes beyond the football field"... What the hell does that even mean?? :mulli:
