Why does back spasm require a hamstring wrap? Man....I am getting KJ vibes (his hamstring) all over again with Booker. Hope that's not true....but man.

Back spasm post was about his previous injury.

Yep...didn't bother checking the date.

The #Suns are not practicing today before flying to SLC for tomorrow’s game at the Jazz. So we won’t have an update on Booker’s hamstring until an official injury report is released later today. Booker said last night that he hopes to play at Utah.

Like I said....getting KJ hamstring 2.0 vibes here.

Posted this in the game thread but it belongs here:

Booker's injury problems are concerning, but I think a big factor in them is the team not letting him get healthy. They seem to let him play as soon as he shows he can move again.

Playing with an injured back often leads to straining leg muscles and vice versa, because you're trying to avoid pain and not using sound mechanics. IMO it's idiotic that he's "day to day" after re-injuring something. He should be shut down until the All-Star Break. Let him actually get healthy for the first time in a year.

He was healthy for almost 2 and a half seasons straight before his first injury. I don't think he's fragile, I think he is pushing himself too hard to get on the court and the Suns are doing a crappy job of being the adults in the room and saying "No, we need you 100%".

I've made this point several times the past couple of years, even used those words (be the adults). If we can see it, so clearly, why can't the decision makers?

We have two other starting caliber off guards.
Bridges and Oubre. Just saying. Three if you count Daniels.

I definitely don't count Daniels. He can't pass, he can't create his own shot, he can't defend. He should only see the court for set plays where you need a 3 or when you're trying to stage a furious late comeback.

I also think Oubre is closer to being a modern PF than a SG.

I'd guess that the lack of energy with the team and in the arena when Booker is out is palpable. A "forest through the trees" problem, a hall mark of the Sarver Suns... we tend to make high risk short term reaches with little hope of long term gains.

That's definitely been true in the past but there's a group of players there now that can energize the fans and hold the TV audience too when they are playing well. Now we just have to get them playing well more often.

Sit him as long as it takes. However, if the hamstring continues to comeback something is wrong a la Kevin Johnson. I am not panicking because KJ had a very productive career despite chronic hamstring problems.

However, if that pops up in a playoff game (assuming we get back)?!? Uh oh.

They need to get this guy into specialists if it keeps reoccurring.

Don't worry. At the rate they're going, it will be at least another decade before they come close to sniffing the playoffs, and Booker will have long ago asked to be traded.

I think they are way closer than that. If they get another high impact player, Booker can stay healthy and Ayton continues an upward trajectory? It will be much sooner than that. That's also assuming we get a decent coach.

The Suns are the Suns biggest hurdle.

And he is going to defend his title in the All Star 3-point contest, which is stressful on on the body.

Didn't KJ have to end his career a little early due to it? and how many games did his miss.

Booker is a young guy and to have this happening already is a red flag, not to mention all his other issues.

KJ could have played longer. He had other interests outside of basketball. He had decided early in his career that he would retire at 30 or 31 and went with the plan. Then he second guessed it and came back, but by then he has not as effective.

He was the first African American Mayor of Sacramento, CA. Probably taking it easy right now.

I would have to go back but KJ pretty much had this for years upon years. If I recall correctly KJ got a hernia from trying to pick up Oliver Miller. When they went in to repair that surgery they found a second un-diagnosed hernia that I guess didn't show up before and probably had it for years. I remember hearing an interview with the team doctor say that he thought it was the source of ongoing groin and hamstring problems plaguing him.

Have no clue if that applies to Booker but it sure sounds similar if he is having chronic hamstring issues.
