The Suns need to let their franchise player know about such a move especially if it is his best friend.

How much effort does it take?

Booker was supposed to be a part of the Suns decision making.
There’s part of the decision making and there’s reality. You really think it productive to go to booker to consult with him about cutting his best friend? Cmon. He should looped in and included in recruiting major FAs and that’s it.

And it would be uncool to let booker know before letting Ulis know. And it’s not possible to do both.

Again, if booker makes anything if this it’s time to grow up. If this is just the media - I know it’s a pipe dream - but they just have to stop this stuff. They’re only hurting their already tenuous credibility.

This is so stupid. It doesn’t hurt the Suns at all to let Booker know and keep him in the loop. Just dumb by the front office.
Before letting Ulis know? That’s (a) uncool to the kid getting cut, (b) a bad way of doing business, and (c) a recipe for disaster if booker then stumps to keep him and the front office moves forward anyway creating conflict where none needed to exist.

Sarver needs to look at this situation and realize McD needs to attend some sort of workshop to help him develop people skills. It seems like he ignores the human element of his job quite often. It's not a terrible thing or something that isn't fixable but it is a bit of a concern that he's still making the same mistakes years into his career. He handled the Markieff/Marcus, Zoran/Goran, and Bledsoe issues poorly. He needs to learn to make a phone call before taking action on certain things to avoid making more calls later to clean up the mess he created.

A front office has their job. A player has his job. Unless you’re Lebron the two really shouldn’t cross unless the player is assisting in recruiting.

The Suns told him that they will consult him on every move and didn’t even give him a heads up when cutting his best friend?

Booker becomes the 7th disgruntled player under Ryan McDonough during his 5 year tenure.

McDonough really has no people skills. It’s the same thing that happened when the Suns traded Marcus Morris and Markieff came and said he wasn’t mad that the Suns traded Marcus but he was mad that the Suns never even gave him a heads up that a trade was coming.

Oh my god.

Show me the quote wher it says “consult him on every move.”

And now he’s “disgruntled?!?”

I’m neutral on McD, so not a fan. But maybe cool the sensationalism a tad bit.

Booker just liked this tweet... ugh....

What the hell McD?! Okay I see it is difficult that you must inform Ulis first, but it should be communicated in some way that these guys (Len, Ulis, etc) might not be resigned this summer.

I don't see the need to ruffle feathers went there is no need. McDonough should have told Booker first or at the same time as Ulis.

This is not an ordinary roster move as it impacts Booker in a very personal way. He is the foundation of the franchise.

There should be such a thing as common sense.

7th we know of, probably more though if we really examined things thoroughly. It's not so much this incident is that bad but since these mistakes keep happening, they need to do something to avoid these issues down the line. No one needs to be fired but they need to bounce everything off of James Jones or something before doing it so they have a player perspective and can put out fires before they start them.

I'm completely there. McDonough needs to learn to better deal with people. It's an ongoing issue.

Players have no right to know anything in advance. If anything it’s a REALLY bad business practice bc they act emotionally and might disrupt a deal with going public or talking to the players. McD is awful with players, no doubt. But players demanding to know things at certain times is just stupid.

Well in that case, the griping of former Suns and the way McD has handled it has rubbed off a bit on Booker.

That said, Booker is a kid whose mind might not be right because he is so young.

#1 Complains about not making the playoffs
#2 Wants to keep Ulis

Pick one.

Hey Booker.. We can move Ayton to free up room for Ulis

You don’t think James jones was in the know on this?

Booker didn’t demand anything. If anything, it sounds like you should be upset at the front office for telling Booker he was the foundation of the franchise. Sure he doesn’t need to be consulted on everything, but not every player we trade or waive is his best friend either. More about common courtesy then getting his ok on it.

I'm sure he was, I'm just saying run it by a player first to get an opinion of if whether anything else needs to be done before going public. McD seems to create these issues for himself. Maybe running scenarios by a former player will give him some insight on a better way to handle things before going public so he can put out fires before he starts them.

I think that’s precisely the reason James jones was brought in.
