They have Swaggy P so it's all good.

I think they could fall anywhere from horrible to the team that takes our spot in the playoffs. I doubt they'll make the playoffs but that's because I'm convinced Kobe is done. If I'm wrong though I could see that team fighting for a playoff spot.

Reading their team board last night, their fans are about split. I was laughing at the idea. I think they'll be awful, but some of their fans think they have a better team this year than the Suns had last year. I simply disagree. I think 30 is their ceiling.

I think mid 30's unless Kobe plays at the level he did his last full season. If Bryant plays like a star, he's probably good for at least another 10 wins.

It's all good

Its a FAR better team that what they rolled out last year...FAR better. That team won 27 games.

Please, Kobe alone is worth 10 games.

They will scrap for a playoff spot. Your pick will be in the mid teens. Enjoy another point guard.

10 games may be the max that Kobe will even play...

I hope the Lakers are competitive to a degree. I'd like to have their draft pick. It would be the Suns luck to have the Lakers land in the bottom five.

<Yawn>

Only a Lakers fanboy would have the gall to brag about that roster. The Lakers have a better chance of keeping that pick than coming anywhere close to the top 8 in the West and "scrap for a playoff spot." Don't worry, you can always live in the past and remind us of how great they once were. Thanks for the free point guard though. Maybe the Suns will trade him to the Lakers for... never mind, they've got nothing of value to offer.

Sorry, contrary to your experience...saying a team will scrap for the playoffs is not BRAGGING.

I know your expectations are very low, but c'mon Klod.

It's hands down a better team than what played last season. Lin, Kobe, Boozer, Hill and Randle are a better squad than Marshall, Meeks, Wes Johnson, Pau and Hill.

Let's not kid.

Why? I think I'd stay in neutral territory on this one.

If Kobe comes back and is a star again, Donald is correct. If Kobe doesn't come back or if the Kobe of 2014 is merely the equal of the Kobe that played 6 games last season, I don't see a significant improvement with this roster. I like their rookie's potential but he's still just a rookie. I'm not convinced that Swaggy P and Jeremy Lin can coexist. Also, Pau for Boozer and Randle is no better than a wash and I doubt it's even that. And I know we're all required to hate Mike Dantoni but he won games last season with a roster that would have struggled in the D League.

I agree that "scrapping" for a playoff spot is not bragging, but given the current state of the Western Conference I dont see that Laker roster coming even close to the playoffs. I'd peg them for 35-40 wins, a good 10 games out of the playoff conversation, worse if Kobe still cant get on the court.

I dont see where their big improvement is going to come from. Kobe returning will help, but IMO he will never be the player he was, and its more than offset by the loss of Pau. Len needs the ball in his hands to have any sort of impact, I dont see how him and "swaggy P" will function together, and it only gets more complicated with Kobe, who will almost certain not accept his diminished skills and still dominate the ball.

I wasn't referring to the "scrapping for a playoff spot" as bragging. I was referring to the comment that this years squad is far better than last years. I think they are both equally horrible, but at least they had Pau. Everyone loves to hate Mike D, but I don't think they win even 27 games without playing his style last year. Who knows what system they will run this year? Kobe is 36 and has a bum leg. I find it hard to believe anyone, even Laker fans, would be so confident in his ability to get back to anywhere close to his former self. I can just picture Kobe getting frustrated and trying to take over games, but not having the physical ability to do so and ending up playing himself into another injury.

Either way, it was all in good fun w/ Donald. I'm sure he knows I'm just having fun with him and not to take it serious. I didn't realize anyone else would either. Relax.

Alright, neutral zone it is. Feels less dirty.

I was just playing with you. I certainly didn't expect to be taken serious, but your PG comment was trash talk and so I threw some back. The bragging comment was in reference to the far better roster remark, not the scrap one. Not sure why that wasn't understood. My bad I guess, but I said brag about the roster so I thought that was clear. Anyway, I realize it's a shock that a fan of another team doesn't believe in old broken down Kobe and a bunch of castoffs as Laker fans do, but I don't believe this team is any better than last years squad. I realize Laker fans are used to having a winning product to root for, but it's going to be a miserable few years for your guys. Welcome to our world.

You may not agree, but when I read that thread on the Laker board about half the people agreed with my prediction, but there were more than a few who not only believed the Lakers would easily make the playoffs, but insisted they would make a deep run. Maybe it's just me, but I find that pretty damn funny.

As Steve Berthiaume would say to Bob Brenly, "I see what you did there."

Every coach won games last season, but it doesn't make them well rounded in their philosophy.

Yes, we're "required" to "hate" any NBA Head Coach who mocks to the Press his responsibilities to (A) encourage playing defense and (B) develop young players.

Mike 'Antoni is like a driver who pulls out of his driveway and gets his car up to 100 mph in seven-seconds-or-less (to coin a phrase), but doesn't know how to drive defensively and avoid hitting cars in an intersection. Oooh, I like that metaphor! :)

Kobe went 27 6 and 5 in 2012-2013.

Mix in the German doctor...

And he might be Kobe for another season or 2x

Yeah, Kobe went 13 6 and 4 and lasted only 6 games 2013-2014 before getting broken again.

Mix in father time...

And he might be Kevin Garnett or Steve Nash last season.

I doubt he will be that bad, but I have a hard time believing he will repeat those number or have that impact again. I don't doubt he'll try though.

Wishful thinking he won't be healthy?
