I was just playing with you. I certainly didn't expect to be taken serious, but your PG comment was trash talk and so I threw some back. The bragging comment was in reference to the far better roster remark, not the scrap one. Not sure why that wasn't understood. My bad I guess, but I said brag about the roster so I thought that was clear. Anyway, I realize it's a shock that a fan of another team doesn't believe in old broken down Kobe and a bunch of castoffs as Laker fans do, but I don't believe this team is any better than last years squad. I realize Laker fans are used to having a winning product to root for, but it's going to be a miserable few years for your guys. Welcome to our world.

You may not agree, but when I read that thread on the Laker board about half the people agreed with my prediction, but there were more than a few who not only believed the Lakers would easily make the playoffs, but insisted they would make a deep run. Maybe it's just me, but I find that pretty damn funny.

No big. It's all in fun, just as my PG comment was too. :dcr:

I fundamentally disagree with both your review of the Laker roster and the idea of Kobe being broken down. But that is a matter of opinion. There are no facts at this point.

I agree, though, anyone who thinks they would make a deep run is off their nut. There are people on that forum that think this is a Cinderella title team. THAT is hilarious.

Yeah, Kobe went 13 6 and 4 and lasted only 6 games 2013-2014 before getting broken again.

Mix in father time...

And he might be Kevin Garnett or Steve Nash last season.

I doubt he will be that bad, but I have a hard time believing he will repeat those number or have that impact again. I don't doubt he'll try though.

I see him as a 20PPG scorer, min.

Is he going to be top 5 in scoring, most likely no. But he will fill it up.

Anything is possible of course as MJ did it at 40, but he also wasn't battling major knee issues. I don't doubt he will put in the effort, and I could see him averaging 18-20pts, but I don't think he'll make it though 82 games doing it. In order to make it though a season he's going to need to find a balance and that's where I think his frustration will have him trying to do more than he's physically capable.

I really don't put anything past him. I've witnessed unbelievable things from the guy over and over again, playing through injury, putting in work like crazy, to the point that I will never doubt him. Those 6 games he came back to play, he had blown through the timetable of an achilles injury already - it was the final game of the regular season, and he was back for the start of the next regular season off of an achilles rupture...just ridiculous. Perhaps that led to the knee fracture, but he will have had a full year of recuperation, and rested legs.

Frankly, reports of Kobe's death have been greatly exaggerated, IMO.

Frankly, I'm more excited for Rose's return than Kobe's.

Frankly, your report of Kobe's return have been greatly exaggerated. He didn't "blow through" the timetable. The timetable for Achilles' recovery now is about 6-9 months. Kobe did it in 8 months - game where he tore it was April 12th and his first game was December 8th. That's pretty much right in line with the timeframe. And he wasn't back for the start of the next regular season. He missed the first 22 games of the season...and when he came back, he looked awful, pretty much showing that he WASN'T ready to come back.

Now, Terrel Suggs blew his achilles out on May 3rd in 2012 and returned to football during mid October the same year. That's pretty much 6 months and change. THAT is blowing through the timeline. Michael Crabtree blew his achilles on May 22, 2013 and came back on December 1st. That is getting back ahead of schedule, maybe not blowing through recovery, but definitely fast. That's about 7 months and change.

The only reason people talk about Kobe "blowing through" his recovery is because that's what Camp Kobe's hype machine was saying all summer when speculation was running rampant he'd be back by the start of the season...which didn't happen, even though you apparently overdosed on the kool-aid enough to trick yourself into believing in the face of reality.

You aren't factoring in the "German doctor" , "the antler spray" and " the cream and the clear."

No, but I am factoring in that Donald sleeps with a body pillow with Kobe's face on it blowing him kisses every night. :D

I'm not sure how this thread perseveres about the Lakers but it does.

I'm very excited for Kobe's return. Watching his corpse out there bitching at teammates, playing horribly inefficient and making Laker fans terribly depressed. Its nice knowing that there will be a portion of young kids who will grow up and their only memories of Kobe playing will be as a washed up, cap killing, cancer.

Huh. His per 36 isn't awful as you say. Only 16.6 or so ppg but much less fga and 7.7 apg..

Oh wait...six games played and his per 36 make you cry "awful? "
