I'm counting on trading Beal as an expiring contract for the 2026/27 season. Please tell me it's possible.
Only if he signs off on it. I suppose if he sees the writing on the wall and the Suns tell him they're not going to re-sign him, he'd approve a trade to a destination he approves of. But if not, he'll just wait until the 2027 offseason.

I think there's a real chance he's moved this offseason. We'll see what happens. Ideally the FO finds a new home for KD and then Beal is a bit more receptive to a trade somewhere.

I don't mind him in the super 6th man role but at his salary that's a losing plan long term.

I hope you are right. I don't see a team that would want Beal this offseason for his salary and the limited number of games he plays.

Also, the Suns would likely have to give up a boatload of assets to trade him if they found a team willing to do so.

I'm more worried about a trade partner than the NTC.

If Beal gets to his final season under contract, he will be probably looking for his next contract and a team willing to pay him.

Not sure how you’re counting on this with Beal having a no trade clause.

I'm hoping Beal will be looking towards his next contract and there will be a team interested.

All true, the real problem with him has been availability.
Actually, putting us over the second apron. He's been a more than decent player. Just not being able to get decent players around Booker and Durant has been the problem.

If the Suns can't find a trade partner that Beal is willing to waive his NTC for, I think they should seriously consider waiving him and stretching his contract. If I understand the rule correctly, the 110M owed for the next 2 years (53M&57M) would equal a 22M cap hit for the next 5 instead, while the cap should be increasing a healthy amount. I'm sure there's luxury tax and apron considerations that I'm not appreciating, but if they're serious about retooling and trading KD, might as well shed this dead weight from the team.

Beal is just so worthless the vast majority of time. He'll play hard in spurts and look good, then just give garbage effort the rest of the time. Talks a good game but is a completely albatross.

Is this the worst contract ever?

Not even close. There have been worse. Ben Simmons comes to mind, paid max money and rarely played even after forcing his way out of Philadelphia. He's played in 97 games over the last 4 years, averaging 25 minutes a game, scoring 6.4 ppg, 6.2 apg, and 6.0 rebounds while being scared to shoot outside of the paint.

.
Yet he was traded for Harden because he didn’t have a NTC. Beal is immovable (they tried). It’s the worst contract in NBA history soon to be surpassed by Joel Embiid.

Harden who had next to no value, did nothing in Philadelphia except demand a max extension before demanding a trade.yet again.
