Assuming we could get him for a half-used booklet of McDonaldland Gift Certificates, would he be worth bringing in?

I think Quinn is EXACTLY the type of guy we need to bring in. How does Whitehurst or the other failed back-ups help us? Quinn has talent. He's never been in a situation where he'd have the weapons he'd have with us AND he'd sure push Matt to be his best. If Matt's a bust, where would we go with the "Whitehursts of the world"? The other guy we need to look at if he's cut is Matt Bulger. He's "Warner lite" (from an accuracy POV) and could perform at a high level in the right circumstance.

P.S. MMMMM Portillo's chili dogs with onions. :)

i dont know if Charlie Whitehurst can be a good NFL QB or not -- but how is he a failed backup? Not being able to beat out Philip Rivers is hardly an indictment.

How's he a failed back-up you ask?

He's thrown 2 passes in 4 years, he's #3 on the Chargers depth chart and was tendered a 3rd round contract. For you to throw out the statement that he was unable to "to beat out Rivers" is very much like saying Brian St. Pierre failed to beat out Warner last year.

When and where was there ever a question he was on the verge of overtaking Rivers for the starting job?

It's impossible to say. I'm guessing that if the Chargers felt that Whitehurst had no value, they wouldn't have tendered him at all.

I'd be more worried about bringing him in because he has a stupid haircut:

Marc smarc, just so we get the right guy!

Oh and by the way it's "where does he play" not "where does he play at". Never ever end a sentence with a preposition.:)

Quinn was an awful college QB and is the same in the NFL.

He put up some good numbers in college he hardly sucked, but his NFL time has been less than great but he is still young and has less than a season's worth of stats to judge him by.

That being said I don't think he is any better than Leinart so not worth a trade.
