Thought it was interesting that Brandon Keith came out dressed with the team yesterday for warm ups and then changed- when they came out for the came he was in sweats. I assume he was inactive did they just want him to experience being dressed at the Super Bowl?

I have a thought, based on nothing - that he may get a crack at the left guard position next season with Wells moving to centre.

Gandy - Keith - Wells - Lutui - Brown

(Brown, Sendlein and ? - key backups)

Keith is a tackle

I think the training camp battle next year will be Keith vs Gandy

And Gandy will hold him too!

That was tough gandy has played quite well for us IMHO but when you're on an island like that I guess the thinking is if you're beat, hold and hope they miss it, and a guy like Harrison is going to beat you.

We throw so much and Kurt is not very nimble so the OL's are probably taught to grab rather than let them get a shot on Kurt.

Gandy had a good year for us and a great playoff. Agreed you can't really fault him for the pressure Harrison can bring on anyone.

I have a hard time blaming Gandy

we know what we have in him-- a pretty good, but not elite left tackle.

Good enough to handle a John Abraham pretty well (although the Falcons moved Abraham to go over Levi just as much as he went against Gandy), but not good enough to be left alone for 44 attempts against the defensive player of the year.

with Keith it seems like when you get a guy with that size who can move his feet laterally as well as he can -- it would be a waste to put him at guard.

No one can handle Harrison one on one all game without holding, he kept Kurt alive and standing and that was his job.

One of those times he gets by he snaps Kurt in half, shudder to think what he'd do with a blindside free shot.

Gandy is a warrior, but you earn your job every year, that's just the way it is, if he gets beat out he gets beat out.

Potential potential potential...

^Wont get you results.

With as bad as Deuce was playing earlier this year, i was really surprised that Keith didn't even get to play.

My opinion: He'll be a decent backup, nothing more.

You don't shuffle guys in and out of the O-line during the season. Continuity is very important.

If Keith is ready next year, is there any chance that Gandy moves inside? If I remember correctly he'd actually played more guard than tackle when they signed him from Buffalo.

I read a bio on KEITH that projected that he'd probably get first work at the NFL level inside with the possibility he'd move outside at some point... that's why I suggested it.

I've been thinking something very similar.

So were going to play the scrubs just because theyve been on the team longer than the better player whos riding pine?

They dont do it at any other position..

The only problem, if Keith can play the position, is Gandy's contract.

Cards are paying him LT money, I believe.

As mentioned earlier, perhaps guard is where Keith should get his first real action in the big leagues.

Sorry! There are no "scrubs" on an O-line that beat Atlanta, Carolina, Philly and held there own against the no. 1 defence in the league.

I was thinking

LT Gandy
LG Wells
C Draft Pick
RG L. Brown (he has no lateral quickness or speed)
RT Keith

Gandy probably has earned an extension. He's got a fairly large cap number this year, and it will be the last year of his contract I believe. I'm actually surprised he hasn't asked for a raise considering he is a pretty good LT.

If I knew how I would set up vbookie with serious odds against Levi Brown playing guard next year or any year for the Cardinals.

I just don't see them moving him after this post season.

Gandy's contract isn't elite LT money IIRC. Either way it doesn't matter at this point because both are already on the team so the money is already accounted for.

I would think that a year of practice with Grimm would hopefully have Keith ready to play what many say is his natural position.

The big piece of this to me is upgrading one of the OT positions and moving Wells to Center.

As many have stated, Gandy has played very well for us. I think he would be a better OG and Wells an upgrade at Center. Now if we can get an upgrade at LT then the O-line unit is Top 8 in the league?

You guys are all "Michael Phelpsing"!

Levi's going nowhere!

Gandy will likely hold off Keith another year, and then his contract expires (I think). So Keith, if he proves himself capable has a shot at taking over then. Or sooner in case of injuries to either of the current starters.

Exactly, when you are beat like that you can either let you QB take a hit and lose yards or hold and make sure your QB doesn't get hit and possibly have it be missed.

Who knows with the crew we had, but its harder to miss a sack than a hold.
