7 innings. 99 pitches. 3 hits. 10 strikeouts. 1 walk. Shutout.

First Major League start!

It sure makes up for the disappointing performance of Patterson.

Now the question is, who will be sent down to make room for Randy between the doubleheader.

P.S.: Good game for Matt Williams vs. the lefty. 'Hope Brenly knows the difference!

And the answer is . . .

Brandon Webb has to go back to Tucson, for 10 games (unless someone gets injured), with Randy coming off the DL to pitch Game 2 of the doubleheader.

He'll be back before we know it!

After that outing today, I'm sure he's #1 on the list when we need someone. I was wondering whether Patterson was listening to the game and what he was thinking hearing what an awesome job Brandon did. Maybe it will wake him up a bit and make him fight to get back up here? I guess it depends on how badly he wants it.

A double-header sweep. Sweet!

There were Diamondbacks accomplishments that were good to see today. Of course, all those Mets errors didn't hurt.

Our 3B coaching is still a disappointment. Now, instead of giving the wrong sign, ERod doesn't give any at all. I hope BB is reacting to that. A coach doesn't ever want to leave a ballplayer hanging out there.

And apparently, Brenly realizes, as last year, that he needs Craig Counsell (yes, he's my favority D'back) in the lineup at all times, whether it's at 3B, SS, or 2B -- all of which he played in Game 2 of the doubleheader.

Brandon had incredible movement on his pitches and showed a lot of promise--it was really exciting.

Randy also had an impressive start with all those strikeouts--even if it was against the Mets.

Before, I thought John Patterson was going through some bad luck. In Spring Training, he was getting strikeouts, but "balls in play" were landing for hits. I didn't think it was best to demote him, but the other pitchers have been great.

Now Patterson had an outing at Tucson with zero strikeouts in 6 innings a week ago. That worries me. Unless they were practicing defensive drills or working on lowering pitch counts that's bad. After the walkfest up here, maybe they said just let 'em hit it.

Individually he did shut out the Mets... Oscar gave up the homer, so Webb's ERA will remain a zero.

It was a good outing but can we not make the statement that the Mets probably didn't have much of a bok on Webb therefore he had the advantage? Not trying to take anything away from Webb since he could have just as easily wilted under the pressure of his first big league start but the Mets really were probably in the dark about this kid.

He will get called back up at some point and I hope he can continue to pitch well now that a book has been started on him.

Thanks, Dbax! I didn't think it was necessary to repeat "7 innings" after Shutout.
