With the bulk of free agency wrapped up for the Pittsburgh Steelers, we can turn much of our attention to the 2025 NFL draft. Pro Football Network has a new seven-round mock draft out and let's go through the picks after the Steelers spent their second-round pick on former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.

First round - CB Jahdae Barron - Texas

After signing two cornerbacks in free agency, it's probably a longshot the Steelers spent a first-round pick on a third cornerback. This is made even more questionable, given that defensive tackle Kenneth Grant and Derrick Harmon are still on the board.

Second round - Traded for DK Metcalf

We include this to compare to who the top players are on the board. There was no player taken after the Steelers original pick, we'd even consider over Metcalf.

Third round - RB Cam Skattebo - Arizona State

Skattebo is a very trendy prospect after his performance in the College Football Playoff. In a vacuum, this is a solid choice. But at the expense of help along the defensive line, not so much.

Fourth round - OT Logan Brown - Kansas

Brown is a nice developmental tackle and would provide solid depth behind Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones.

Fifth round - QB Kyle McCord - Syracuse

If the Steelers wait until the fifth round to draft a quarterback, they could probably just pass and fill another position of need.

Sixth round - No pick

The Steelers actually have a sixth-round pick after the Metcalf trade. They also only have one seventh-round pick now but at this point, these picks are largely interchangeable.

Seventh round - DT Cam Jackson - Florida

Jackson is a solid developmental guy who could contribute in a limited role as a run stopper while he works on his conditioning.

Seventh round - WR Samuel Brown - Miami

Brown's explosion makes him a nice choice this late in the draft. He's a raw prospect but super athletic.

Analysis

This certainly isn't the way I would approach the Steelers draft. Just looking at the first and third-round picks, there are multiple combinations that we think would help the Steelers more. Without a second-round pick, I wouldn't rule out Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first and if this went that way, we'd take Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Turner in the third. What about running back? Move to the fifth round where McCord is and instead go for UCF's RJ Harvey who is grossly underrated here.
