Who should the Cards bring in next yr?

Are you confident they'll be the answer for us?

If your voting for someone else state who and how confident you are in them.

I think Breez if they can get him.

Not overly confident in him - but he's shown that he's competent this yr.

He seems small and possibly not durable either. He seems to read the field well - but Gates has helped his production emensly!

Not to mention having a Thomlinson.

I think Bledsoe may work. A tall QB, cannon arm. We could use a tall QB with the line we have. Only thing I'm worried about with whoever we bring in is if the line can protect them.

I don't think Breez can get it done here and Bledsoe is on his way down for the count.

Totally premature and sucky poll IMO.

I for one say its still too early to write Josh off. Sure a lot of you did a long time ago, and are now....but impatience has never seemed to be lacking with a lot of posters here, and probably always will be just a fact that comes with the territory considering the demographics of many of those who suffer the modern era "I want it right now" mentality in everything they do or think about.

Once the year has played itself out, hopefully by then it will be clearer who should stay and who should go here. THEN, you can start figuring out who, if any, you might consider bringing in. Not before then.

You need a selection for none of the above. Here is my post from another thread...

I can't believe you guys are so sold on Brees. 6 months ago this guy wouldn't have done anything to get people excited. He has one of the best backs in the game, and an awesome TE and WR. The major thing that changed in SD was the offensive line was overhauled. Don't you think if we spent the money and thought into getting a great LT and a great RG then moving big back to LG where he was awesome. Do you think Walter Jones would be a good pickup? They can't franchise him this year if they have to put the tag on Alexander. Then we can draft a RB in the first round. I just don't think Brees is the answer. I think if he was behind our line he would look just like McCown/King. probably more like King getting balls batted back in his face because he's closer to that guys height than McCown.

I did agree with you about Josh until the "considering the demographics" part of your post. way to over generalize why people feel the way they do.

you're deluding yourself here Tango. Right or wrong, I think it's pretty clear that Josh is done on this team barring some unforseen circumstances. The organization has made negatives comments about last season - not too encouraging comments about him this season and even his guys - our WR's (Quan saying he expected King to start over the summer) and Fitz saying we need to get the ball downfield more) are pretty much line with everyone else.

We have seen Bledsoe behind a line like ours. He is behind one right now in Buffalo and he sucks! Draft a guy that can be the future.

Rookie QB, maybe bring in Bledsoe for whatever he might have to offer to mark time. He's got a cannon arm, but roots for feet.

Move for a good QB...we probably can't get Leinart unless we do something crazy...but we need to get someone young, with high upside.

We don't have anybody on the team right now that is our QB of the future, and not by a long shot. King isn't it, and Josh absolutely is not it. Navarre can get his shot, but I doubt we'll see him as anything more than a backup, but I guess you never know.

Yeah, totally. Josh is gone. He has very little team support, and justifiably so, IMO.

ESPN today (Ditka and Allen) had some good things to say about the Cards. They said Green has basically turned us around.

They also said our QB situation stunk and that we might go after Brees....they didn't think we'd get him.

Here are the UFA's and RFA's at QB next year

Tony Banks
Charlie Batch
Jeff Blake
Drew Brees
Travis Brown
Quincy Carter
Ty Detmer
Gus Frerotte
Jason Garrett
Matt Hasselbeck
Tim Hasselbeck (RFA)
Shaun Hill (RFA)
Kelly Holcomb
Brock Huard
Doug Johnson
Shane Matthews
Mike McMahon
Jim Miller
Rick Mirer(can't believe he's still in the league)
Craig Nall (RFA)
JT O'Sullivan (RFA)
Jesse Palmer
Doug Pederson
Sage Rosenfels
Kordell Stewart
Vinny Testaverde
Kurt Warner

Now here are QB's that PFW projects might be cut for cap reasons:

Jake Plummer - Broncos have to pay him a $6 million bonus to keep him.
Jay Fiedler - he's as good as gone
Aaron Brooks - Based on comments he made about his future with the team
Rich Gannon - due to make $8 million next year.
Brad Johnson - writings on the wall
Steve McNair - due $7.5 million next year, also health concerns.

As a part time Bills fan myself, the player that strikes my interest in Travis Brown. He's got a cannon arm and looked very poised in preseason. I know it's only preseason, but he was under heavy pressure and still did a great job going through his progressions.
However, I agree that it's way too early to say McCown will never make it. Just wanted to post the options for everyone's perusal.

I would rather have Plummer back here then be tied into a long term deal with Brees.

That list is pretty scary. McCown has got to go and Brees is going to very expensive via trade or signing. At this point I wouldnt mind seeing them Draft or QB maybe jason White or andrew walters. Or develop Navarre which is what I'd like to see.

Hell Travis Brown couldn't even start at Moon Valley High School here in Glendale from 1992-1996. He was second string at Moon Valley. Oh yes his high school coach Mr. Beliss(sp) really sucked thought.

Nice Syracuse - I've been working for like four days strait through so I havn't had time to post.

Steve McNair would be awsome. Can you imagine what he could do here with our guys! It would be huge! We would have to bolster the OL a little too - but hey - - Wow

Also I didn't know Hasselback would become a FA. That means both him and Alexander will be UFA's. Looks like Seattle is going to loose one of them. :D

That would be the biggest mistake ever to bring in Bledsoe.... I still dont know about Drew Brees but a NO NO NO NO NO on Bledsoe.... We made the mistake of bringing in Blake for a year lets not do the same with Bledsoe

And thaqt free agent QB list doesnt look that great... Lets bring in Warner!:bigyawn: j/p

I'd take Jake Plummer back. We have a much better supporting cast, and it will get even better this off season. His play MAKING ability would be nice along with some veteran leadership desperately needed here. Plus, the guy has matured @ the position thanks to finally getting quality coaching. The laugh would be on the Bronco's after all... They pick him up to mold him into a good QB and he flops right back here. It's like we leased him out and he appreciated in the meantime. Far fetched? I think so, but it is nice to think about. :)

The question is not just who we want but who will be willing to come to the Cards. There were will be numberous teams looking for QB's so we face two questions who do we want and who will be willing to come. Giving some of the teams looking for a QB such as the Bears,Dallas,Detroit, and others the better FA QB's will have a bidding war for their services and be able to choose where they want to live and what coach they want to play for. Our plus is our receivers. Our down side is our history and perhaps DG who has been acting crazy this year with some of our players and coaches. Dennis's way or the highway is not real attractive to a lot of players. Think these players do not pay attention to what a veteran players like Kendall has to say?

McCown I would suspect was leading the league in balls batted back in his face before he was put on the bench. I think King has a better shot at being here next year than McCown. We have seen McCown for 9 games and he just does not get it. We have seen King for one game and one quarter and he at least had a history of winning in the NFL a few years ago. I am not all that confident in King but more so than Josh.

Perhaps our best shot at a QB might be to trade for one with one of our early picks. I suspect some of these backups might be good if given the shot I continue to think we will have a rough go in getting a decent FA QB as to many teams are looking for them. We had our shot at a QB two years in a row in the draft and we are now paying the piper. You do not get two shots in a row like we had for a decent QB once in a decade.
