I agree!
I thinks it's ridiculous when somebody says "It's not Brently's fault that this team is stinking." Well, those are probably the same people that still believe in the tooth fairy! Like many of the other top managers that are successful year after year they have no problem taking the blame when their team is stinking. Because they know they are in charge of the team and their players are not in charge. That's why they are called "MANAGERS" they are responsible to manage the coaches and the players. When a player isn't living up to their potential it is the manager's job to much sure that either he, the hitting coach or the pitching coach works with that particular player to make sure they make the proper adjustments. If a player continues to be ineffective game after game then the coaches aren't doing their job. That's Brenly's responsibility to make sure he has coaches and players who know how to accomplished their jobs successfully.
But what I have observed during the past few years is Brenly has that "good old boy" attitude saying many times publicly "Well, these are big leaguers, they know what to do". Well, Brenly I have a news flash, evidently they don't!!! So wake up, stop standing in the corner of the dugout like a statue, blowing bubbles, unfold your arms and start doing you job. I have attended many games and have observed Brenly not one time talk to any of his players during the game. There is a reason why many of the teams are successful year after year. When watching their games you notice the manager is constantly walking down the dugout, sitting down next to players, consistantly "communicating" with them. That has been the biggest gripe of many ex-Dback players such as Overbay who was just recently quoted in a Milwaukee newspaper when he said "it's nice to be on a team that knows how to communicate." Haven't several other players stated the same comment in the past? I think it's no concidence! It's no secret that Brenly has no clue how to communicate with his players. I'm personally tired to him having press conference after press conference saying the same garbage game after game.
It's time he takes responsibility why this team is underachieving and starts managing this team correctly instead of constantly saying "I don't know what to do" to the press. He needs to get rid of that "good old boy" attitude and start managing this team by getting tougher, even if it means a "getting in your face" attitude and communicating better with his coaches and players. If he doesn't, I agree he'll be looking for work shortly!
