Mantei had the tools to be a top closer. Unfortunately, he only learned how to throw 90+ mph fastballs. In the bigs, about everyone can hit a fastball. Reminded me of Dan Quizzenberry from the Royals (a long time ago) who only threw those submarine pitches. When guys know what's coming, they will hit it usually. Mantei should have learned to throw a couple more pitches. Too bad, he was pretty good for awhile.

He had a very good curveball and a very good slider. Before all of his injuries, his main problem wasn't a lack of secondary pitches but a lack of command (of all pitches including his fastball).
