I think this D would be killer with someone like Woodson back as FS. I realize the guy is 36, however he is still a ball hawk. Losing Kerry Rhodes hurt our FS spot, but I agree with other posters that Rhodes did not want to play here. I say go for Woodson on a two year deal and shore up the weakest part of our team.

doesn't matter how old his stat sheet says, it matters how old he plays. And he definitely does not play 36. I'd love to pick him up. Would prefer mending fences with Rhodes though. Considering he's still unsigned and I've not even heard rumors of him and other teams, I'm guessing we still have a chance

Woodson would probably be better suited at SS, but I definitely agree with bringing him in.

I've thought about this this off season as well, especially now that he remains unsigned. Why NOT? We have the money, and the weakness at both safety spots.

No. Yeremiah Bell is the veteran safety familiar with Todd Bowles defense and the Cardinals have cornerbacks out the kazoo. At this point in their careersTyrann Mathieu is more likely to be a playmaker than Woodson IMO.

Forget Charles Woodson. The FO has a plan, or so it seems, and have addressed the safety position. They think Bell and not Woodson will do the job. There is no arguing that Woodson has been the better player, but at this stage in their careers, Bell is a better buy, as a stopgap measure. Woodson seems like a better fit for Denver, which is a legitimate SB contender. We'll probably pick another safety pretty high in next year's draft, unless Mathieu and Jefferson have good years. We might even try Fleming at S. JMO.

We already have a safety that is way too old, and if we are going to have a 2nd, then they should have just kept A-Dub.

I agree, Woodson would be an upgrade but would it be worth the cost ?

Not to mention you now have 4 safeties, and need to find playing time for each.

I'm more concerned with finding two that can actually play more than finding playing time for the 3rd tier talent the Cards have on the roster at the position.

Jonathan Amaya!?!? Curtis Taylor!?! Two rookies from Oklahoma!?! 35 year old Yeremiah Bell and career backup Rashad Johnson as starters!?! That's the plan the new geniuses have for Safety????

It seems like we've gotten to the point here on ASFN that salary is more important than talent.

Rashad played well last year and deserves a chance to be our next safety IMO.

Is there another Rashad on the team besides Rashad Johnson? Last year was probably his weakest since his rookie year. Other than a couple of interceptions he didn't do much of anything.

But then he doesn't cost much so he fits well with the new Cardinals where pay is more important than play.

Was he even a good safety last year for the pack? Or is this based on NAME only?

Let's see what happens with players that get cut in the preseason before jumping to conclusions.

They have plenty of cap space to sign some solid players if they come across a couple that get cut for age or salary reasons.

Also for all we know Woodson might be a player that they are currently looking at.

One issue this offseason that has made it somewhat difficult to get a good safety is the contracts that some of them got. I don't think the cards plan on giving out lucrative deals to free agents.
