Somewhat disagree, Jake himself played in games like that before and did much better. Remember the Dallas game in '98 where we fell way behind at the half, they lost their top 3 CB's and Jake rallied us to a near win shredding their backups the whole 2nd half? Remember the playoff loss to Minnesota where we fell way behind and Jake put up big numbers and points in the 2nd half once the game was out of reach?

What made this game difference is even with the game totally out of hand, he wasn't able to put up much. People seem to be implying that Shanahan was quite relucant to even let him try, as if he saw Jake starting to take some chances that scared him and just decided to shut him down. I taped the game haven't watched it yet most Denver fans seem to think the Colts just took away the deep stuff and made Denver dink their way downfield, would you agree?

Donks 1st drive >10 plays, time eaten, FG
COlts 2nd drive. Easy Money TD on Boneheaded D play
Donks 2nd. Drive to the 30, lose 20 yards on Dan Neil holding calls. Drive dies.
Colts third drive easy money TD. 21-3.
Donks. Easily drive to 35, Dan Neil chop block, 15 yards, drive dies.

Next drive, the 86 yard stink bomb, game friggin OVER.

Jake never had a chance. He played poorly once his tem was out of it, I agree. But he had NOTHOING to do with being out of it in the first place. Tha being said, that duck of an underthrow to Lelie was vintage PLummer, as was the batted ball by the DE.
Colts first drive:

1-10-IND30 (14:55) P.Manning pass to E.James to IND 34 for 4

2-6-IND34 (14:24) E.James left tackle to IND 44 for 10 yards

1-10-IND44 (13:51) P.Manning pass to E.James to DEN 45 for 11

1-10-DEN45 (13:12) E.James right tackle to DEN 44 for 1 yard

2-9-DEN44 (12:35) (Shotgun) P.Manning pass to E.James ran ob at DEN 31 for 13

1-10-DEN31 (12:02) P.Manning pass to B.Stokley for 31 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

Donkeys first drive (dink and dunk Denver):

1-10-DEN23 (11:51) C.Portis right end to DEN 32 for 9 yards (W.Harris). FUMBLES (W.Harris), ball out of bounds at DEN 32.

2-1-DEN32 (11:28) Q.Griffin left tackle to DEN 39 for 7 yards

1-10-DEN39 (10:48) J.Plummer pass to S.Sharpe to DEN 48 for 9

2-1-DEN48 (10:07) C.Portis up the middle to IND 49 for 3 yards

1-10-IND49 (9:27) J.Plummer pass to Q.Griffin to IND 42 for 7

2-3-IND42 (8:44) C.Portis left end to IND 44 for -2 yards

3-5-IND44 (7:58) J.Plummer pass to S.Sharpe to IND 40 for 4

4-1-IND40 (6:57) J.Plummer up the middle to IND 39 for 1 yard

1-10-IND39 (6:17) C.Portis left tackle to IND 39 for no gain

2-10-IND39 (5:35) C.Portis left guard to IND 39 for no gain

PENALTY on IND-J.Williams, Defensive Offside, 5 yards, enforced at IND 39 - No Play.

2-5-IND34 (5:10) J.Plummer pass to R.Droughns to IND 34 for no gain

3-5-IND34 (4:26) J.Plummer pass to R.Smith to IND 30 for 4 yards

4-1-IND30 (3:48) J.Elam 49 yard field goal is GOOD

The Colts had them right where they wanted. Sit back, play prevent, pressure the QB. I am surprized that Jake didn't throw 3-5 INTs. Shannahan pisses me off sometimes. He makes the QB hold the ball to long for the play to develop. Meanwhile it's 3 10 and they throw a 5 yard pass. Even when they are ahead that happens. He needs to stop trying so hard to outwitt the other team and just give the guys a playbook and let them go out and win the game.

He isn't trying to outwit his opponents....he's trying to limit Jake's mistakes on deeper passes....

It's the dink and dunk, limit Plummer's mistakes (hide his weaknesses) offense. Get used to it. :p

In a prevent D, Jake should have been able to put up great numbers. All the prevent is designed to do is take away the big play, but teams can move the ball on it.

What the Colts actually did was take away the run and the short stuff, and force Plummer to through the mid- to long-pass. He couldn't do it effectively.

Me too.

he did but they dropped 2-3 of them right? I know on radio they said Morris dropped one right in his hands and a Safety dropped one too.

Doss dropped one for a TD the first time they played, and the biggest play in the win over Cleveland was Lelie interfering with their safety preventing him from picking one off. That's just jake, in a situation where he has to make lots of decisions, he often winds up putting balls into extremely dangerous spots.

I watched the game until halftime.

In that time, I saw Jake throw a perfect pass in the numbers to a LB in the middle of the field with no receiver around. The LB dropped the ball. I saw a DE bat down a pass. I also saw Plummer throw a wounded-duck jump ball into double coverage, resulting in a pick.

My God it was the 1999 Cardinals. Pathetic.
