The Denver Broncos are bringing in speedy Texas running back Jaydon Blue for a visit ahead of the 2025 NFL draft, according to ESPN's Jordan Reid.

Blue (5-9, 196 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds at the NFL combine while dealing with a groin injury. He later posted unofficial times of 4.28 and 4.29 at his pro day. He ran a 10-yard split in 1.52 seconds at the combine.

This description of Blue from NFL.com's Lance Zierlein is of particular note to the Broncos: "While he can be labeled a 'change-of-pace slasher,' his real value will revolve around his ability to mismatch linebackers and threaten defenses as a receiver out of the backfield."

Denver coach Sean Payton has spoken about adding a "Joker" this offseason, which is a tight end or running back with elite receiving skills to create mismatches. The Broncos have already added tight end Evan Engram during free agency, but Payton undoubtedly wants to add a running back to the offense as well.

I will never understand the odd usage of RB Jaydon Blue in the Texas offense. Undersized at 5' 9" and 196 pounds but he can play!

+ Desired speed and burst to threaten defenses on the perimeter
+ Good fluidity to change direction and juke defenders
+ Pass catcher that creates… pic.twitter.com/NhMweuLFL0

Blue played in a shared backfield with the Longhorns, rushing 134 times for 730 yards and eight touchdowns last fall while adding 42 receptions for 368 yards and six more scores. He is now projected as a sixth-round prospect and Denver holds three selections in the sixth round. The 2025 NFL draft will be held in Wisconsin from April 24-26.
