No disagreement there when comparing Cards and Browns. Difference is the most recent number of first-round picks by the Browns that have failed---have to go back to Leinart for a comparable bust in the first round for the Cards whereas the Browns are making it an annual event.
The real calculation that needs to be done is the success rate when a veteran QB changes teams and has a revitaliztion and/or growth that leads to wins. Palmer went from the Raider discard bin to some good years with the Cards.
That success rate result would provide a good comparison and direction when deciding between a newbie draft pick or a young vet to fill the QB position.

Can't argue that. Of course we have the distinction of drafting players, them sucking here, only to become near hall of famers elsewhere. Thomas Jones, Leonard Davis, Garrison Hearst, Calvin Pace, all had much better careers elsewhere than here. The Browns, well, not so much.

Add Jay Novacek, TE. Although he was only a 6th round pick in '85, he did move to Dallas and have a solid career with some Pro-Bowls and plenty of playoff wins. (Not sure if he didn't get the opportunity here. He started 6 games for us in 5 years, 88 games for the Cowpies in 6 years).

Which doesn't make sense to me. Why take one of those guys at the top and likely sacrifice a blue-chipper? One could get Allen or Mayfield at 4 and pair them with Barkley. But probably not doing it in the reverse order.

Barkley at #1, whatever QB remains at #4. That QB will be fine with Barkley behind him...

I hope it's true. Personally, I'd laugh my ass off if one was a total bust (i.e. Russell, Leaf) and 1 wqas the next Tom Brady... and they kept the right one...... the humour here is off the scale (and I object to the spell checker flagging humour, oh my god, you can;t have that u there, it is so dumb-s$$t unamerican to use PROPER english. It has been said that the Giants are willing to consider trading out of the No. 2 pick. I had the thought that Cleveland has enough "draft capital" to be able swap their No. 4 pick plus additional compensation with the Giants for that No. 2 spot.
Crazy as is sounds, it is a deal that could work for both teams. How wild would that be for the Browns to have the Nos. 1 and 2 picks in the same draft! They could get Saquon Barkley AND their choice of QB's!

You take the QB #1. If you are too stupid to identify the best one, it isn't going to matter. Barkley is a huge running back that runs with the power of Reggie Bush...he is no way more valuable to a franchise than a QB.

If I was the Browns, I would try to move from 4 to 2 to ensure they get their QB and Barkley. I think they are content staying at 4 and getting Barkley or Chubb though.

joe thomas just retired...anyone know who the browns have at LT to replace him?? good chance whichever young qb they select is going to get blindsided regularly

^That's when he isn't getting plastered by the other edge rusher. The Browns have a solid triangle but their tackles are young and below average in pass protection.

Cleveland has three picks in the second round at 33, 35, and 64.
They could gather some good talent for their OL by staying put with their picks at the top of the second round. Another alternative would be to bundle those 2nd round picks and get back into the lower half of the 1st and get a top OL player.
Sure is fun to draft when you got the draft pick captial.
