I am baffled by this. The only reason that I am I am not shouting to bring him back is that it seems like something must be wrong. I don't get it.

I am all for bringing Hood back to the team...Hopefully some of the current members of the team have dialed him up...

Hood was released by the Cardinals because they signed McFadden to be the starter and Hood's contract was too expensive to pay a back-up corner; it would have been something like $3mil this season.

Make him an offer for #3 corner pay!

I thought I read somewhere that he asked to be released because he didn't want to be relegated to nickel corner and was p-o'd that he wouldn't be the starter.

If true, maybe this will make him humble and realize that he's not starting CB material. I'd definitely take him over Ralph Brown.

According to a league source, Hood signed a one-year, $1.4 million deal which didn't include a signing bonus.

You would think at this price, the Browns would have kept him if he fit anywhere into their plans. Obviously there is a problem here. To have two teams cut him in less than a year should send up a flare.

If that were true though why would he sign with the Browns who have two pretty good young Corners in Wright and McDonald

I like what Hood did while he was in Arizona but i'd just as soon move on. The plan is probably to move Toler into the nickel role in mid-year and let him develop to take McFadden's spot in a couple years. That's fine by me, having Hood around could stunt Toler's development.

How quickly we forget. Before DRC turned the corner. Rod Hood was definitely our best CB. When he got hurt, I distinctly remember a thread discussing how much he was missed. While I was the first to frown my face up at the signing Rod Hood was a pretty good player for us. Not great, but he was no Tom Knight that's for sure.

Are you that enamored with Brown?? I'd take Hood back at his expense any day.

im not enamored with him, but he's better than Fontenot or other guys we could cut. Brown was big for us in the playoffs too don't forget, with picks against the Seahawks in the momentum week 17 game, the falcons game, and the Panthers game.

IMO, Hood made a lot of good plays defending on the field but then he would allow the deep throw to be completed for a TD and not turning his head once to defend against the catch, negated most of his good efforts. Think of it, if he was as good as everyone said he is, why was he cut in the first place? The CB is one of the most difficult positions to fill on any team, if he wasn't a liabilty he would still be playing for the Cards.

A lot of those catches that he made were fluke plays. He almost always had tight coverage in those TD catches and the WR/QB makes a spectacular play. It's not like he was beat DRC style.

Man, its sad that my boy is being used as a punchline like that.

Bring him in please. But don't cut Brown

I like Brown as well, at least until the Packers game where he didn't play well. I was disappointed because he is fairly consistent although not outstanding. Of course the whole Cardinals secondary looked bad.

I would've been excited about maybe bringing Hood back if he hadn't been cut by the Cleveland freaking Browns! That is enough to make me doubt how well he is playing right now.

I would agree except that they have sucked for so long, that it is very possible that the Browns themselves don't know how to identify talent.

That usually is the case for franchises that are down on their luck.

I don't know a lot about the Browns but from looking at their roster it looks like they have two good young CBs and Hood may have been looking at being relegated to nickel back there as well.

Brown proved some worth reeeeaaal late in the year for me. I was never a fan of his until damn near the playoffs.
