Verbatim from his twitter

But just for you Shane:

  • He was cut
  • Given the pink slip
  • Given the boot
  • Told "don't let the door hit you on the way out"
  • Thrown out of the organization
  • Told to go pound salt
Which one works better for you?? :D

Cards will bring him in for a look. He had 21 for 41 passing 304 yds, 2 tds and 2 interceptions in 2007 game here against us in Whis' first year.

just "Derek Anderson cut" would suffice. Saves you time typing and less apt to get carpal tunnel. Saves me time reading and chance for glasses later due to prolonged eye strain. :)

Even though he had a monster year that season, accuracy is his #1 crutch. I'm not his biggest fan. The game you referred to, he had 51% completion. He also had a game earlier this season against the Browns where he had 12% completion (2 for 17).

He also had the worst WR's and TE's in terms of catching the ball 2 years in a row and played in horrible weather. He isn't Kurt when it comes to accuracy but playing with Fitz and Stevie in a dome, might not make his accuracy as big a liability as you would think.

Also I believe that game was in Buffalo in the howling wind and IIRC he managed to win that infamous 2 for 16 game. For comparisons sake, Kurt was 6/18 for 30 yards in the New England "snow" game in 2008 and that was a big fat loss.

He gets my vote for whom I want and whom I think we will eventually get. Highest upside of anyone available that I can think of.

Again

Leinart
Anderson
Whitehurst/McCoy/Snead

One of those guys is going to be a hit....

get him before the idea of Whitehurst coming in and a 3rd going out gets any more thought!

I really don't waste a 3rd round pick on Whitehurst. I love the fact that we have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds in a draft that is considered one of the best in years for defensive players.

If Wiz deems Whitehurst worth a 3rd pick im all for it. However my bet would be a 4th or 5th to get Charlie over here. Hell wasn't Kerry Rhodes just traded for a 4th and went to a Pro Bowl recently? Whitehurst hasn't even taken a snap in the NFL. No way do I see the "new" Cardinals making that move.

I don't see it happening either, but for a backup QB, i dont even want to give up a pick. Sign Derek Anderson or one of the others available IMO

Whisenhunt and Kiem are so golden with me at this point, that if they felt the need to give up a first rounder I wouldn't be upset.

In fact them showing interest period makes me think Whitehurst might be alot better then he might be getting credit for sitting behind Rivers and Volek.

This was kind of an intersting read...

One of those guys is going to be a hit....

His 51% completion came in a dome (UofP).

He had Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards, who both had 1100+ yards IN 2007 who he still had in 2008

He also had Joe Jurevicius who was a great 3rd option

He had Jamal Lewis behind him who ran for 1300+ yards who he still had in 2008

You can blame external conditions all you want, but the bottom line is that other QBs in the league's present and past have had success despite less than perfect conditions. Jim Kelly was successful in Buffalo. Tom Brady in NE. Ben Roethilsbeerger and Terry Bradshaw in Pittsburgh.

If you are a good QB, you are going to produce despite the conditions.

And you mention the NE game where Kurt went 6 for 18. Matt Cassel did just fine in that game. Even Leinart had a better afternoon than Warner.

Its not inconceivable that he succeeds in AZ. Its just that I don't want a wild Jeff George like QB throwing wherever he wants more likely 65 yards down field. There are better options out there right now and Id like the Cards to scout them first before they check out Anderson

Note that he is the guy that Jurecki for the last week has been saying the team has been watching very closely and the guy they may have been coveting. Reason why they were being lazy concerning Carr.

Count me in the category of people saying they are not a fan of Anderson. Even his best year was not anything to write home about. Almost 20 INT's, under 57% completion percentage and a very average rating of 82.5.

Not saying he couldnt turn it around. I mean he is a 6-6 230 pound QB, is only 26, and has plenty of tools to turn things around. I am just very leary that he ever will.

But I would rather have him then Whitehurst, and it isnt even close in my mind.

Me too. But I don't want to trade for a QB either...
