chris... is this another case of Sanders Bold Statements backed up by... nothing... like the "i told you Sarver wanted Doncic" thing when McD got fired?

i mean... NO ONE here apparently heard this and it would have been a 5K post thread if anyone did.

You are misquoting me. I said that the office wasn't aligned on whom to pick. Who wanted Ayton or Doncic I can't say but I am really certain they wanted different guys based on his actions of meeting Doncic in secret without his GM.

It is a fact he did that. It also has been reported that this is common behavior for him because he meets with agents about players without his GM.

I don’t recall hearing or reading about this and i highly doubt that Arians would throw the organization under the bus even if that were the case. All whispers were that he was contemplating retirement as early as October last year.

He has already thrown the organization under the bus for how they use David Johnson.

when BA got sick and missed the game...sandy eggo was it??...we all knew it was his last season.

Chris might be correct though in reading between the lines...I cannot find a link where that is quoted but found two articles stating that Arians "agreed to leave"....

agreed to leave sounds a lot like he was forced out.

BA often cited "Famly" as his reason to retire and that ties in with him having health issues at the time....
quite possible that Mike and Steve care for the old dude and didnt want him to work himself to death wearing Cardinal red

During one of his broadcasts the other commentator said to him "You know a lot about team injuries" and Arians responded "Yeah if I didn't have those injuries last year I wouldn't be here in this booth"

I just have to find the game he said it.

Falcons vs Bengals game this year. I referenced it two weeks ago. Arians was talking about next man up, and how it only goes so far and then you end up like him. I put the exact quote in a thread on here. I can look it up.

Did you take it as him saying he was forced out? Or more like a rash injuries make coaching a lot harder?

Based on the Cardinals fetish for hiring Chargers retreads, I will bet you that if the Cardinals fire Keim then AJ Smith will be his replacement.

In all honesty, while I never liked Smith, he is still probably an upgrade over Keim.

This is from the David Johnsonis not being used properly thread...from when I was watching the telecast of the Bengals vs Falcons...this was word for word. It shocked me.

Watching Bengals vs Falcons. Vic Beasley went out and Bruce Arians made an interesting comment.

BA - "Next man up works for awhile, but it doesn't work on the 6th or 7th guy."

Trent Green - "you have experienced that"

BA - "I'm in the booth because of that."

I don't doubt he said that, but he also called Levi Brown 'elite', so he does like to say things that aren't necessarily true :)

That's a pretty far cry from "I was forced out." We'll see how that story evolves over the next few years.

Is it? Do you say you are in the booth because a season of injuries because you chose to retire?

It's completely a dichotomous statement from the narrative in my opinion.

I am in the booth because of that. Not by choice. Not by health. Because I had a bad season of injuries

I wouldn't be surprised if Keim/Bidwill told Arians this is your last year, but we aren't going to "fire you", you are going to walk away.

As flawed as Arians was, I think he got the most out of this roster. Look at the difference between Wilks and Arians. I bet Arians would actually win with Bradford; Bradford is better than Stanton and Gabbert. I think this is why I thought going into the season that this would be around an 8-8 football team because on paper the Cardinals have a good defense and Bradford is definitely better than Stanton/Gabbert.

You can spin it however you want. I can hear that and say that he's saying it's too hard to compete deep down the roster. I don't really care one way or another. I guess we'll see if he comes back in another year or two.

agreed.

he also might be saying that those two injury riddled years burned his ass out, as opposed to being forced out.

But like K9 said, we'll see if he comes back or not.

And there's a precedent for BA being pretty direct about this. He said that "Pittburgh annouced that I'd retired, but it was more like re-fired. I wasn't done there."

agreed. Bruce isn't one to hold his tongue... especially if he feels wronged. I mean, the team didn't go with Bettcher who he wanted. If he was forced out, I think there's a good chance we'd know that with rock solid, blustery confirmation from Bruce.

Man... I wish Bruce wasn't sooooooo stubborn and loyal to certain players/people like Amos. He was a very, very good coach, but that loyalty kept him from being an all-timer, IMO.

Source? An offhand comment that "Cleveland is the only job I'd consider" is not saying he's back on on the market.

That is the source. He is willing to coach another NFL team. Just like he said he would be coaching this year if not for injuries. Those aren't the words of a retired person.

Those are the words of a man about to get the crap beat out of him by his wife.
