First thing I thought of when I heard this story is Frank Kush smacking punter Kevin Rutledge at ASU. Ultimately cost him his job and he dealt with litigation from the incident for nearly a decade.

I remember Kush whacking iirc John Jefferson in the back of the neck with his clipboard. Not to the helmet just below it as he came off the field. It was during a game and we were sitting right behind the bench. My dad and I talked about it for years.
