Yes, understood he was already listed as a "safety", but I think we will see him playing less NB and a the Cardinals bring in a nickel back corner.

I think it is safe to say that unless the Cardinals are going to cut Bethea, which I do not see them doing that Tre Boston will not be back this year.

Swearinger
Baker
Bethea
Ford

That should be penciled in as our safeties going into 2019.

That leaves the Cardinals with at least 3 cornerback positions to fill, one being the nickel back position.

I think that is a pretty solid safety group, Ford is the only bubble guy in the group.

Probably a mid round CB pick and maybe a mid-tier veteran CB will be brought in to fight it out with Amerson for the nickel CB role.

I am sure they will still use Baker at nickel from time to time. the trick is to get your most talented guys on the field.

I really hope this is only in base defense, because I believe he has played at his ideal position. I would love to see them release Bethea, and replace him with Adrian Amos. A nickel package of PP, Alford, Baker, DJS, and Amos would be pretty solid.

It all depends on how much sub packages defense we run and the quality of our 3rd CB. I have long since wanted to see Baker used as more of a single high safety ala Earl Thomas.
I think Baker would be really good in that position.

Adding a NickelCB shouldn't be the problem, I think 1 or 2 will get cut till March 13.

Amos is good, but Bethea is solid and I'd rather have Bryce Callahan as our nickle CB, which is a real need. IMO.

This is actually bad news. Like Tyrann Mathieu, Baker is a better playmaker near the line of scrimmage, where he can utilize his quickness and not be exposed by faster players who are at speed when they meet him deep down the field.

I've seen Budda Baker be outrun many times in the open field. This is a decision that will make him look worse, just as it did his predecessor.

I tend to agree, but then again, I never thought bringing in an under sized safety was a good idea.
