He seems to be fading a little down the stretch. I wonder how much of that is Brown next to him. Brown started strong, but seems to be getting beat more now. I could be wrong since that is based on what I remember seeing.
Check out my weekly O-line analysis.
IMO since Hernandez went down Froholdt has been asked to compensate for the guards.
Instead of playing him to his strengths he has been asked to stay “at home” and had to make some really difficult blocks in order to spring the guards to pull. It worked in the beginning at the season, but with Hernandez out and defenses started to scheme against the guards and primarily started shooting the G gap, Froholdt was put in a very difficult situation. Some of the plays against the Seahawks where the defense blew up the running play, Froholdt was asked to make close to impossible blocks.
This week the pulling scheme was altered and the primary pulls was Froholdt and backside tackle. The results showed immediately on multiple fronts.
1. Run game improved.
2 Froholdt made some great blocks.
3. Guards are asked to hold their own. Adams has done that well in the run game, struggles more in the pass-pro. Brown has looked good in pass-pro but exposed in the run game
