See, I've been told Angel is an excellent show, but I haven't checked it out yet. Angel got really, really old really, really fast for me, and he had to go. And
I think he got waxed at the right time
. Angel's such a polarizing character. Some liked him, some hated him. I don't think anyone thought the character was just okay.

I have to admit I was not a huge fan of his character at first. However, his appearances on Buffy did him no justice. His character was a million times better once he had his own show.

The only problem with that is there were some great crossover episodes. If you watch all the way through Buffy without watching the Angel crossover episodes it gets confusing.

Wait, so should we be watching s4 ep 1 of buffy, then s1 ep 1 of angel, then s4e2 buff, s1e2 angel, etc?

That's what I've been told by people I trust. The problem is, I don't have enough free time to keep up with shows I do watch, and I'd want to watch all of Buffy again before I'd think of watching Angel.

You could just watch the first 3 seasons if Buffy and then break off to follow Angel's storyline.

I think it was the only spinoff series that I felt was truly worthy of the original.

Yes but the good news is there are lots of sites that have the crossover episodes listed. You can simply just watch those episodes of Angel. That's what I did before re-watching Angel.

Aside from the crossovers I don't blame you. However, Angel goes through some serious character arcs before the show is over.

Yep. And so do the other characters. Still can't believe some of the the Doyle and Fred stories. And Lorne is one of the best characters ever on TV!

Much more mature show than Buffy. Different tone. But just as good.

After much deliberation, (and also because we are about to start what many call the worst episode of the series, Beer Bad) we are going to do the co-viewing from here on out. In a very quick review of some sites, it appears there are several little details in several episodes, as well as massive plot correlation in others, that is worth approaching it this way.

That's the order we are going with.

Awesome list. You get to watch Hero and Hush back-to-back. Two of the all-time great episodes, from each series, IMO. I envy you seeing them for the first time. Can't wait to hear what you think.

Season 4 of Buffy is fine...in fact, several awesome episodes. A couple of duds, Adam sucks, Riley and Buffy have the chemistry of an amoeba orgy, but all in all a good season.

Angel is awesome too, and I love cross watching them both at the same time.

Re-watching Angel. Want to cry, it is so good. 15 years old, and I feel old. Doyle is my fav!

Watching the Doyle episode now. Know what is coming, and dreading it.

Also, find "Wonderfalls". Great TV show. Done by Angel's exec producer, Tim Minear. Awesome!!!

Loved Buffy, yes. Never watched Angel because I wanted to off that character myself. Yes, people told me he wasn't nearly as annoying as he was on Buffy, but I just couldn't bring myself to watch it.

Angel was great IMO. All of the love triangle stuff from Buffy was gone and it's just about redemption. Seriously, the supporting cast was awesome as well and the show was definitely dark at times but still managed a sense of humor.

+1 I thought Angel was clearly better than Buffy.

I loved the start of Angel but once they started turning him evil again I lost my appetite for the show. I stayed with it anyway but I couldn't help but think a real hero would have killed himself a long time ago so that the bad Angel couldn't do his damage. Angel didn't have any horrible seasons like Buffy did but all things considered, I preferred the Sunnydale gang.
