Latest report (from Buster's Mom) that he's headed to Dee-troit upsets my conspiracy theory; that being:

If you feel that the disconnect between Buster's on-the-field energy and leadership while at FSU and his lackluster effort and performance with the Cardinals is puzzling, put your paranoid hat on and ponder the following:

Buster appeared to forge a close relationship with Mike Singletary (Niner assistant HC) during Senior Bowl practices (with lots of tough lover from Singletary).

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that Singletary lobbied hard for the Niners to draft Buster, only to have the Cardinals steal him with an earlier-than-anticipated 3rd round pick.

A few winks, nods and text messages later, Buster is pursuaded to sandbag during rookie OTA's and preseason in the hope of being cut.

Buster, in fact, does get cut, declines the invitation to re-sign to the Card PS and - after a decent waiting period (to avoid tampering charges) the Niners sign him.

Tell you what? If it doesn't wind up that way, and Buster in fact does wind up with the Lions, it would still make an interesting subplot for a football novel.

Hey, you can't blame Buster for signing with the Lions--everyone wants to be on a winner.

Jeff--

that is beyond nutty --

and sounds alot like the "Wis told Korroddi to throw that first interception to ensure he makes it to the practice squad". That should scare you.

This kind of thinking would fit right in on the P & R Board.

If you could somehow tie in Big Oil, the Girl Scouts and the Trilateral Commission, you might just find yourself with a huge following.

I watched a few FSU games last year. I expected him to get spot duty this year. :thud:

He must have been really bad to be cut so quickly....

From what I remember, his work ethic sucked. Perhaps it was because he dropped to the 3rd round cause he was short and nothing else, most definitely not cause once he signed a contract, he just didn't work hard or anything. When the Cards give up on you, you must suck.

Couldnt Buster be considered the fastest Cardinals draft pick flame out, relative to his draft selection?

He barely made it through training camp....He makes Tommy Knight look like Anquan Boldin.

He beats Darwin Walker, who was the 71st player picked in his draft. Buster was 69th.

Yeah, but Walker wasn't cut because he sucked, he got let go because at that time, the local McDonalds had better staff and management than the Cards.

Walker was an obvious stud from the get-go. That pick made the whole draft worthwhile for me that year.:bang:

This is a poorly researched cheap shot and is bogus. It seems like you hunt for opportunities to take shots.

After he went to the Eagles he came and admitted that his work ethic sucked. He said that he never considered he could be cut after being drafted so he didn't put in much effort. He said that getting cut was a wakeup call which is why he started trying once he got to the Eagles.

Yeah, CardfanMD. How dare you insult an organization that unearthed talents like Mao Tosi, Jay Tant, Jabari Issa, and Sekou Sanyika after scooping up future stars Thomas Jones and Raynoch Thompson.

Totally unfair.

Nothing bogus about his statement that, at the time, the local McDonalds had better staff and management.

Unless you consider a 3-13 record and getting outscored 443-210 just two seasons after advancing to the second round of the NFL playoffs, and getting outscored 1,212-782 over the next 3 seasons and eventually producing a team that finished dead last in both points scored and points allowed, evidence of talented management.

Of course if the local McDonalds finished dead last among all McDonalds franchises in the nation in Sales and Profit in 2003 I'll retract my statement.

But that was then and this is now. Just see my post on the Cardinals 5 year + players for evidence of how much things have changed for the better.

Walker was cut because he sucked and couldn't be bothered.

Hence the example was bogus.

Does that mean we didn't have problems heck no, but the example cited was bogus, hence a cheap shot.

Yeah, we've had this debate before where the discussion was whether the staff is at fault for not being able to motivate the kid, management for providing an environment that produces an inordinate amount of disgruntled or unmotivated players or the player for not being mature enough to do his job. Basically there is no way to tell because every situation is different.

But with the current situation in Arizona, as opposed to the way it was in 2000, I have to blame Buster Davis 100% for living up to his name.
