I can't stress enough that he will cost us a game at some point with the poor field position he leaves us in. He did make one good punt which was downed inside the 5, but the other ones really were terrible.

He takes so long to punt the ball that getting it blocked is a matter of when, not if

How come BA can't see this?

There has to be someone better out there, there just has to be.

I doubt it would even be considered as long as the cards are winning and he has not been blocked yet. But yes it takes a long time for the punt to develop.

This is one of the only thing that really bothers me about this team. It's not a matter of if, but WHEN this kid gets a punt blocked... or two. Throw in his regular shanks and it should be a position where we're proactively trying to find someone better before he screws up big time.

We won by a large margin. I guess that isn't enough for some. Btw, I thought Butler did a good job today. There were at least 2 punts inside the 15 yard line.

There is another thing to consider as well. He is a good holder. I can't remember who said it, but a well know kicker was once asked about his holder and his response was; He is such a good holder that he is only an average punter. (Or something like that, but you get my point).

Maybe he should be replaced on that alone, Catman has missed 4 XPts already this year ;)

Instead of how many games the Cards win their division by, Sissyboy should make a poll of how many punts will Butler have blocked this year. I say at least 3.

I think it is awesome this thread is dedicated to our punter. Clear sign of changes IMO.

Im most sure this staff and FO have a plan for our punter.

IDK what is going on, and I am hardly an insider, but maybe there is a plan to bring Zasty back at some point this season. I am sure he has a sack full of balls he kicks everyday, and I am positive he is trying to rehab his leg.

Maybe Butler can make it to game 6 (full season accrual) before Zasty can come back and he costs us that "game" all you *****'s are referring to.

He is on the team and giving his all. Step off his nuts.

Punter is important in my opinion. Field position in a close game is huge. Was Butler not a factor in our playoff game last year? The guy flat out blows...

OK boys. Im sorry. This dude sucks.

At the moment we are blowing out the 49ers, and so far (the game is 28-7, 2nd Q with about a min left) he has been the only reason we have 7 against us. Really fecal punting.

I agree punters are underrated. We should be actively looking for a new punter.

Doing alright 2 times out of 3 is disastrous for a punter.

Needs to be 1 out of 40 screwed up. Not all perfect, but not 'fecal'.

Punters have 1 job, not saying it isn't hard, but they don't have to figure out angles and speed and power like the real players, all he has to do is kick the ball. Ergo, he isn't going to improve. Most punters are relatively finished products, never have we heard of a bad punter who turned all pro through coaching, it doesn't happen. Get rid of his ass.

It is like Aaaron Franscisco. One glaring weak link gets ignored because you keep winning. And then he costs you a Superbowl. Butler could cost this team a big one; he can't be trusted

It's not even that he's terrible that pisses me off, to the best of my knowledge, we haven't even looked at another punter since Zasty got hurt.

Even with the punts inside the 5 today he still sucks. Only reason those were good was because he could only kick that far.

Need to be looking for a new punter. He will cost us a game at some point.

He is the only punter in the NFL not to crack the 40 yards per attempt in the first three games. Dead last. He also has the lowest "longest punt" of all players. It is not even a contest; while 3 players have had 70+ punts, most have had 60+ punts, drew is at 47 and second worst is 54.

By far our weakest department.

His crappy ass punt in the 2nd is the only reason the 9ers scored at all yesterday. That thing was atrocious.
