Fair enough, but we know where a lot of those moves came from.

doesn't mean Kerr wasn't raped in every one of those deals. even the JR deal, wasn't there a team who did the same thing as us, getting rid of a first rounder but at least got an early 2nd rounder back while we got nothing?

Did anyone else think this part of the SI article was highly significant?:

"As is the custom with all NBA teams, D'Antoni will meet soon with Sarver and Kerr, together or separately. Kerr said before Sunday's Game 4, which turned out to be the Suns' lone series win, that D'Antoni's departure was not a fait accompli as far as he is concerned. He would not comment on D'Antoni's status after Game 5. But a source said that Kerr would make a few demands in the postseason debriefing: that D'Antoni devote more practice time to defense; have more confidence in his bench players, i.e., go to an expanded rotation; develop a clearer plan for a point guard to back up Steve Nash; get more planned touches out of Amare' Stoudemire in post-up situations.

D'Antoni, sources say, believes that the situation has been festering all season and that nothing would be accomplished in the meeting."

That sounds to me like Kerr has expressed to D'Antoni that he doesn't necessarily want to fire him, but that he wants Mike to amend his approach to running the team. And D'Antoni's response is forget it, it's my way or the highway...

If that's true, it should tell you everything you need to know about D'Antoni, his ego, and why he continues to be a frustration for (most of) us Suns' fans.

Basically Avery's out. But:

but the partnership of Dirk Nowitzki and Kidd would seemingly demand an offensive specialist to maximize their potential as a tandem. The Mavericks, according to sources, would have definite interest in Mike D'Antoni or Flip Saunders if either is made available, but can they bank on either one?

These two teams will seemingly forever be intertwined, so lets do it, lets trade coaches!

Quotes from Spurstalk

No coach is going to be able to turn back the clock. Fuggedaboutit.
This was the Suns' last chance. They have set.
I am NOT shocked at all. This is a classic case of "This coach has taken us as far as he can" right here.
No more "couple more stops, guys" for Dasani boy
Dan Tony to Mavs. Avery to the Suns. It's planned.
if they get Carlisle, I think they are tougher, BUT, not AJ level tough.
Please basketball Gods, do not let AJ end up in Phoenix. He'd take that team over the help.
AJ to the Suns would be a nightmare for the Spurs.
Hopefully the Spurs will offer D'antoni an assistant coaching position...
The Big Cactus claims his first victim!!!!
Woah More panic moves from teams that are prone to panicing.
Did he even have a playbook in Phoenix?
Can they resurrect Cotton Fitzsimmons?
Kerr should fire himself for the Shaq trade. What a douchebag.
Telling horses to run and entertain isn't coaching.

Does this mean I can get off my knees and stop praying? Is Mike really gone?

Ding Dong, the witch is dead! ... is it true?

BTW, to those so narrow minded as to say, "yeah, but who are you going to hire", need to take a deep breath and listen. Searching for a coach is not a two second process - several will have to be evaluated. What was Phil Jackson doing before he came to coach the Bulls in 1990? Who was Pat Riley before he took over the Lakers? Who was Chuck Daley before he got a hold of the Pistons? Greg Poppovich? Byron Scott with the Nets? There are many 'good fits' that aren't in the public radar today. All the good coaches are not in the league coaching right now... some are yet to be discovered.

Avery post season vs. S.A.: 1-0

D'Antoni post season vs S.A.: 0-3 (4-12 in the games)

That's good enough for me.

Or being stubborn and ******** regarding playing the bench, making more rotations and changing up against master tactician coaches on the fly....

than getting wiped clean by one of our most hated arch nemesis in the playoffs once again....

i'd say that's pretty rude to the fans and whole phoenix suns organization.

Touche.

So you guys are all for swapping coaches with Dallas?

Avery improved as a player every year. If he can do the same as a coach, then the Suns will be in great shape when they are relevant again in 5-7 years.

Realistically, this team may only have one more year to win a championship before it has to be blown-up. According to a lot of posters we don't even have that long. Do you really want to risk wasting that small window on a coach who may/or may not be the right fit?

So you think we can win a championship with a guy who is the wrong fit?

A coach that stresses defense and develops a half court offense around Amare.

Be careful what you ask for.

I'd just like a coach that knows how to get the most out of what he's got, flexing his scheme to the talent, not the other way around.

It seems to me that it would be a whole lot easier to bring in an assistant coach with a defensive background than to bring in a whole new coaching staff. IMO, there isn't a coach available that would be an upgrade over what we already have, therefore why change?

Additionally, due to our current financial position we really don't have the flexibility a new coach would need to bring in his own players. Therefore why not try to win with what we have next season and see what happens.
