Seems like we are getting a bit banged up tonight, hope nothing serious. Gump was blazing on that kick return, hope that was just a cramp

We're in for a long season if Cal-Poly is rolling us up like this.

This is a team we should blow out 65-7. That we're not, especially after losing game one is probably a harbinger of things to come.

21-21 now... unbelievable... and at home.

You guys are clueless about how good Cal Poly is. Great defense and a decent offense

Should've watch the Montana-Poly game last week to catch a clue

I am not sure we haVe a clue how to stop the triple option. As long as you stop the outside runner, it is not that tricky. We always try to go for the big play, and completely lose contain. New Mexico is starting to look like a challenge as they run the same thing.

There's no sugar coating this one, dude. ASU's still going to win somehow, but if the A&M didn't leave any doubt in the minds of those players, this close call sure has.

Pretty sad they are just running over the defense.

Cal Poly is a better team than the Jacksonville St team that almost beat Auburn today

I'm not ready to go there, but the lack of adjustments to the opposition is shocking. Norvell has got to be the most overpaid assistant in CFB.

Irrelevant. Cal Poly cant complete a forward pass and its players are physically weak. ASU players look like titans next to them. It's taking multiple Mustangs to bring down Richards.

This is becoming mental for this team.

Go back and read the first half dozen posts in this thread if you are in need of a good laugh right now.

Well getting the ball to Tim White seems like a good strategy moving forward. If he takes a few touches from Lucien, I would be fine.

Still no excuse for getting burned by the run on the outside with players like Laiu, Sam, and Simone on defense.

Back from the game

Love the Double Inferno.

ASU should have blown out Caly Poly. They were favored by over 30 points. ASU has to play much much better.

Like an Arizona player next to a UTSA Roadrunner? That tiny school dropped 32 on the AZ Wildcats last week. UTSA could only muster 3 points in a 30-3 loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday.

Of course. However, if they don't decisively handle Cal Poly - at HOME - it will speak loudly to just how poor the talent & coaching is on this team.

I rest my case... Pathetic. This team could be the most over-hyped team in Div-1 history!

It was not a good game, but UTSA had the benefit of watching four of our DBs, a lineman, and the best defensive player in college football go down to injury. The defense had trouble regrouping swiftly. By the time it did, in the fourth quarter, UTSA only gained 39 yards.

The difference? UTSA has a QB who can complete a forward pass and is coached by someone who's achieved more than RichRod and Todd Graham in CFB. Poly is a one-trick pony who runs a gimmick offense.

But hey, you beat Cal Poly. It could've been worse and ASU could still recover. However, this seems like one of those situations in which the team may have bought a little too much into its own press clippings and its coach's hype.

My concerns return. The Sun Devils need a a threat to run the ball at QB to keep defenses honest especially since I do not see much depth at running back after losing Kalen Ballage. Do the Sun Devils have any freshman RBs that might help?

In regard to defense. In years past Frank Kush learned quite well how to stop an option offense like Nebraska. Get penetration in the backfield before the option offense can get rolling. This pretty much stops an option offense. Maybe Todd graham should talk to Frank Kush.

This team has a long way to go. Scheduling wise, I am really questioning playing 2 triple option teams this early in the season, we had several guys go down with injuries from that chop blocking they use. And we get to see this same mess next week against New Mexico.

Missed field goal, 2 red zone opportunities missed, one looked like Berco and the WR were not on the same page, and Kohl's fumble toward the end of the first half, which was really a 14 point swing. Eliminate these plays alone and we would have had the blow out we expected.

I was impressed by Cal Poly though.

I only watched the first half and the highlights, but I really liked Lucien and White, I think they are going to do a great job as receivers for us this year. And its good to see Berco finding the TE Kohl so much.

But like I said, long way to go. We are obviously no where near ready to play USC.

Got nobody to blame but your athletic department for that one. Vegas had you pegged at 8.5 wins but despite clear talent deficiencies Graham's Kool aid train kept on chugging. Not sure why ASU has always set the bar so high with generally only 2-3 NFL players on the two deep. Did this during Koetter's days too which led to a lot of fan grousing.

Sorry but ASU is not a national championship level program and probably won't ever be. Just too many factors working against it primarily lack of local talent. I'm not gloating when saying this as UofA is in the exact same boat. It would just take a huge confluence of luck (expanding playoff field, a once in a generation merge of talent such as '96 ASU or '93 UA, huge declines in stature of SoCal programs for starters) or a large demographic change in Arizona that would take generations for our local programs to win a natty. That's just our reality.
