I asked Jurecki about this on twitter a few weeks back. He said he'll probably get franchise tagged if a deal isn't in place
Typical ass backwards thinking. They'll low ball him with every offer, then in desperation pay out the ass to franchise him, and he'll make far more than any 3-4 DE deserves.
If Graves and co. had a brain, CC would have at least a five-year extension by now. Instead, his market value has sky rocketed this season and it will cost probably 50% more to re-sign him than if the organization had done so before the season.
And I don't want to hear the Fitz extension as an excuse from these clowns.

Actually (h/t to Chopper to pointing this out a month or so ago) with the new CBA (where it's becoming increasingly apparent that the players got screwed), only the top 5 salaries of the previous 5 years are being calculated for the Franchise Tag.
This leads to much lower franchise tag numbers (like 20% lower) than they would have been under the old system.
So guys like Jermichael Finley and Matt Forte are going to get incredibly, massively screwed, but Calais Campbell is only going to get really screwed by the Franchise Tag, and the Cards are going to get a really good player for an excellent salary.
Didn't know that, good news. I'd still rather lock him up, although showing no foresight his price tag goes up every week.

Does anyone really think we're going to let Campbell walk? Because if you do, then you have a lower opinion of the front office and coach than I realized. I will be shocked, absolutely stunned, if Campbell isn't a Cardinal.
Are we not still about $7 under the cap this year? Seems like that could be put to good use by extending Campbell before the season is over. We need to keep this young core together. For the first time in a long time I'm actually really excited about the potential for this defense.
