Umm... doesn't Jake actually have to retire in order to be even a consideration? I could have sworn he never officially retired and therefore the Bucs and Broncos were pursuing millions on signing bonuses or something like that. Anyways with that in mind wouldn't Tampa actually have to agree to trade him? Why would they do that when he would make an excellent insurance policy for themselves?

Considering ALL OF THAT... don't you actually have to have something of value to trade? Who might we be able to trade that 1) we can do without and 2) is actually worth a damn to Tampa? P.S. Don't say Marcel Shipp. He is not that valuable to Tampa on one hand and on the other... he is actually one missed block away from starting here.

So in short.... Not going to happen.
I see what you are saying, I just disagree on the Shipp part. They just went and brought Zack Crockett out of retirement last week. I see Shipp as an upgrade over him in a heartbeat.

Oh and just to add... we haven't even spoken of cap considerations. Yes Jake would be an upgrade over Rattay, but it's just not realistic IMO.

If any of you are trying to say thast Tim Rattay is a better QB than Jake Plummer you an absolute utter ******. Please let it be known who you are so that I can ignore everything you say from here on out.

You people are acting like spoiled bratty little girls. Our franchise has gone down the drain through injuries the past two weeks. We dont get to be choosy little grudge-holding pansies. We need to go after the best QB available. Right now, that could very well be Jake. I think either JJ or Shipp would get him sent here.

So if everybody who disagree's with you is a ****** what does that say about you not answering a retards questions?

Which big money contract would you cut in order to sign Plummer?

YOu want to give draft picks to the Bucs for a QB that may or may not come out of retirement?

Hell NO!

As far as that goes, I will concede to whatever you say because I really have no knowledge of the cap.

Many who disagree with me are very smart. In fact everyone who disagrees with me may be a genius, except of course for the retards who think that Rattay is better than Plummer.

I have not had as much optimism for a Cardinals season since 1998 as I had after the Ravens and Steelers games. Going into the season I thought they would suck like usual. Without someone else besides Rattay this season is over. So after I get my hopes raised the Cardinals were going to be different this year those hopes get smashed.

With all the injuries to QBs the NFL needs to look at its rules regarding QB protection. Warner's injury does not fit the case but in general a smaller player standing flat flooted often blindsided by a runnning much larger player just cant happen if the NFL wants to have a good product. They cant let their stars get hurt and have teams playing guys who were sitting on their couch a week ago. I think they should be protected like punters in the pocket. The rule should be for the defensive player to grab them and the whistle would blow. No take downs no helmet to helmet like Leinert. Rules should be very specific about acceptable methods to sack the QB.

I think there has to be away to make cap room to sign a guy like Plummer. If there isnt room then say goodbye 2007 and hello 2008 just like every other year to have the season end this early in the season. Cut someone if needed. The QB position is essential if a team wants to win. It is so heartbreaking because they are so close. Seems to me like defense is playing better than in years.

Both Denver and Tampa Bay are after his bonus, Tampa first, Denver as a contingency if the arbitrator voids the trade.

Note the last report I found about Jake Plummer quoted his brother as saying Jake was legitimately considering pursuing the Peace Corps.

Who knows, but it sure doesn't sound like he's been working out daily and studying film waiting for another NFL job.

Well of course Plummer would be better than Rattay. But the logistics behind getting Plummer are why we will suffer thru Rattay.

It isnt just trying to find someone to cut. Its is trying to find someone that doesnt have 4 or more vested years in the league becuase as of week 1 their contracts are gauranteed. So now you can only cut a rookie to 3rd year player. Cant be a 1st rounder over the past 3 years becuase cutting them would actually cost money in remianing pro rated bonus that needs to be paid. So it isnt just as easy as saying lets cut someone to make it work.

What you are not grasping here is that many on this board feel otherwise. My point was simply that Plummer is better. While I am glad that you and I are on the same page, I regret to tell you that we are part of the minority here. It appears as though we are surrounded by a less intelligent form of life as of late.

What you don't seem to grasp is that Plummer isn't coming back, so what exactly is the point of all this Jake-love?

Marino, Elway, Unitas and Sid Luckman are all better than Rattay as well, but they aren't coming out of retirement either.

All your insults and temper tantrums could be better spent on another subject.

Thank you for further proving my point. You have also hereby lost any credibility by stating that dead guys are better than live ones. Please dont ever taint any more of my posts with your nonsense.

You're making that statement in a vacuum since none of us have any idea what Jake has been doing the last X months. He may be in great shape and ready to go, he may be 40 pounds overweight, half of it beard, and completely unprepared to play NFL football again.

I'm no Rattay fan but at least he was essentially in game shape and we knew that.

I wasn't trying to start world war three, nor was I trying to put down Rattay, but this is really a no-brainer. People like that rarely get too fat in 9 months of no football. He can not be compared with Elway or Young like many of you are attempting to do because he hasn't even been gone a year. I also firmly remember him retiring because he wasn't guaranteed to play. That is something he could do here. And maybe I am wrong about this one, but who really cares about Jake's conditioning. He was never in great shape. He was always skinny. It isn't like we need him to play WR. IIRC Jamarcus Russell was 35-40lbs overweight prior to the draft and I dont remember that killing his staus.

Again, not saying we need to bring him in, was just saying he is better than Rattay. Take it for what it is.

Untrue Russ.

Kwamie was saying on Sunday that to the best of his knowledge, Jake is living the good life on his ranch and has zero interest in returning.

Again, not saying we need to bring him in, was just saying he is better than Rattay. Take it for what it is.

Call me a ****** if you want, but Rattay has a better career completion pct than Plummer and a positive TD to INT ratio behind a career in SF with an abysmal O-line. Plummer has 161 career INT's over 10 years in the NFL.

Jake Plummer is not a pocket passer and not a good fit for Whisenhunt's offense. He did take Denver to the AFC championship, but Shanahan changed the offense for him so he could roll out and create havoc where he is the best.

Rattay is a better fit for this offense than Jake as a stopgap. The offense is just not suited to allow Jake to succeed. Plus, again, this would cost us a draft pick and his contract terms are for $5.3 M for the current year. Rattay is cheap and I don't think Plummer gives enough upside over Rattay to warrant that expense.

It is interesting that this topic is garnering so much attention. The idea of seeing Jake "The Snake" back in AZ is interesting to say the least.

I didn't say he wasn't I said none of us know for sure what Jake is doing.

Unless Kwamie is "one of us" and I'm not aware of it in which case thanks again for all the picks against San Diego in 98 Kwamie.

I've been saying in all these threads if Jake really wanted to comeback he probably would be back already. I mean how old is Vinny and multiple teams were after him?

No kidding.

It's just amazing that "Jake Plummer" in a thread title still makes common sense fly out the window.
