As the last few Mondays. Sure we lost a game we should have won, crucial mistakes as usual, can't get 2 refs to call a blatant hold on the screen pass etc. But I come away from this game feeling a LOT of promise for the future. Matt played terrific, I'm sure he won't play that well Monday night against the awesome Bear defense but he showed why we drafted him.

Sure we lose Fitz probably for a few weeks but we still have Boldin, BJ, Walters, Edge. Matt said after the game he thought the OL did a pretty good job he barely got touched, just a few times. I think that's the kind of attitude he HAS to have right now, he's got to go out thinking do my job, learn, and don't worry about what I can't control.

Deuce by most accounts played well, I know Watson did because Pasch and Wolfley pointed it out several times. Cooper made a couple of nice plays.

1-4 looking at 1-5 sucks but at least we finally have a QBOF and the future is going to be right now.

Russ, I agree with you on all accounts except that I actually feel WORSE today than I have previously. It's great that Matt showed promise, but had we won yesterday and at the minimum the Rams game, we'd be 3-2 and looking at playing much better over these next 11 games. Now we're 1-4 and staring down the barrell of a monumental a** whippin at the Bears hands. Yeah we should still play better each week with Matt, and I'll always get excited for game day, but what really are we playing for? Shoulda, coulda woulda. The story of our lives.

I'm setting myself up to be lambasted and ridiculed, but Leinart is the ONLY reason I'm not completely giving up--and by giving up I mean giving away all my Cardinals crap and finding another team to root for.

I've seriously had it, and it's only because I think leinart is a legit glimmer of hope for the years to come that I'm hanging on. I'm tired of giving my time and money--and, most importantly, my heart--to an organization that isn't as commited to themselves as I am to them.

I'm not angry this morning, just heartbroken.

I think I echo your feelings. I ask D-Dogg every week, "Dude, what if we didnt have Leinart?".

I was close to that last week the only thing that kept me going was knowing we were going with matt. It's not easy being a Card fan but at least we have some hope.

One great QB can make such a big difference in the NFL especially a kid like Leinart who has that special something that other players pick up on and like. I think with him, Edge, Q, Fitz, I really think we'll be able to attract some FA's if they're out there. It's a lot easier to recruit FA's when you have a guy like Leinart at QB.

It won't be overnight we're not going to win the last 11 and go 12-4, but I truly feel good things are coming with Matt at QB.

Know what you mean. But there is always something that keeps us coming back in those moments of deep despair. I remember saying "If Boldin wasn't on this team" or "We drafted a 2000 yard runner who might..." or "Fitz is the real deal, so..." I'm still trying to figure out if I'm an eternal optomist or if I'm just plain stupid.....

I feel the exact same way. Me and my brother called this a "good loss." Whatever that means.

It seems we worked on some things. We played pretty close to a flawless 1st half.....we got out adjusted at halftime.....but hopefully things are getting turned around.

I agree. He is the only reason I feel a slight twinge of guilt for leaning strongly towards the UNDEFEATED BEARS!!!

Neither am I .. at least there were bright spots yesterday ...

And a lack of really any one definitive thing we can blame it on. They made a bunch of little mistakes today.

A nice clean first half.....did I read it was penalty free??

We bottled up LJ. Edge got some holes once in awhile. We are getting a little better.....I was glad to see the changes....it looks like it was a hard week of practice. Hopefully it continues.

I feel as many of you that yesterdays game was a glimps of the future. I will never ggive up on my team. I told my wife when we left that game, that we looked good in most areas especially Matt and the Defense. Yes we missed or got bad calls here and there, but we hung in there and Matt brought us back enough to win. I'm looking foward to see what our D can do against them and watch Matt grow.. Will win on Monday I don't know but I'm with them loud if not so proud.

Russ, you are not alone.

The fact that Leinart could actually audible out of the bitz was the most encouraging part of the game for me. He knew the blitz was coming, he changed the play at the line, and threw little dumpoffs and slants because of it. He actually ran bootlegs, which were impossible with Warner under the snap. Minus the INT, he played a very good game. He played well enough to win.

I do think that he needs a little work in the no huddle offense, but he already played 10x better than Warner. He should have spiked the ball on 1st down rather than 2nd down, but that is small.

Leinart gives us hope. That pretty much covers it for me.

This team would try the patience of Job.

Man I hear you on this one it's just a gut punch of the highest order, I was so mad when we hired Green but it wasn't really anger it was just desperation, I did not want to go through the upswing of wins to be let down in the playoffs, little did I know I wasn't even going to get the wins part.

The worst part is just the offseason, it's agonizing and then when the season gets here we just implode, OMG it's hard to take.

There isn't much point in trying to find another team, my heart wouldn't be in it, but I can say this it is truly darkest before the dawn, that dawn to me is when Matt stepped on the field.

I've toyed with rooting for the Chiefs over the years but it's pointless, as you can see the fans of that team run the gauntlet of extremely classy down to rabid worthless idiots, there are some of those because there is literally nothing else to root for here in KC.

I've never become a Royals fan or a Chiefs fan, I've stayed a Blues hockey fan, a Cardinals baseball fan and a Cardinals football fan, to me the odd thing is people who can change teams, I just don't know how you could do that, it's like hard wired into your body after a point and you're stuck.

I am having a hard time understanding the failure so far this year. I think everyone will agree that the talent level has improved under Denny. Assistant coaches Loney, Zauner, and Brooks were supposed to improve OL, ST, and DL. I have been a fan for 42 yrs. I just didn't foresee the Cardinals being one of the 5 worst teams in the NFL this year. Its maddening.

I agree with you Russ, as well as with most of what was stated by others. It wasn't so much anger as a true disappointment. If this had been the 1st game it wouldn't have been so bad but this was our 4th loss and that just stings a little. When I left yesterday, I swore I wasn't going to the Bears game, but as always, I've changed my mind!

I don't think the Bears are any bigger of a challenge than any other team we've played. So for now, I say we give them their first loss!
