OK, then let's throw in Tim Tebow. Here is a guy who has done nothing wrong in his entire life and yet the hatred for him on these boards and others is astounding and 100 times worse than Newton has ever gotten and none of it has to do with Tebow's skill level, or lack thereof. In fact, I'm confused as to the level of hatred Tebow gets on any level. He's never broken the law, isn't a drug abuser or drinker, never acted like an ass in public. Stranger is that he's mocked because he doesn't believe in pre-marital sex. In short, Newton is getting heat now but he's never gotten Tebow heat.

As for Newton, it isn't the fact that he lost, looked horrible in doing so, "for who, for what'd" a fumble, etc. The reason why he's getting so much heat is because in victory he goes out of his way to make sure the light is shone directly on himself and only himself. The Superman gesture and t-shirt wearing, the dancing, bowing, and dabbing on TD's, and when it comes to us, the way he and his teammates rubbed our noses in it when they beat us 2 weeks ago(taking team celebratory photos when the game was still in progress, etc) but in defeat he turns into a skulking little cry baby from his on field bitching at the officials to his one word answers then getting up and walking off the podium press conference. If he would have come out and been humble, congratulated his opponent, and essentially took it like a man he wouldn't be getting near the heat he's getting now. He came off as a straight up poor sport and this is going to follow him for the rest of his career. He better hopes he wins a title because this is going to get thrown in his face until that happens.

And this racism is a one way street I assume? Oh, and I'm such a racist that I adopted a black child.

First I'm not calling you a racist. I'm not saying every criticism is born out if racism. But it's naive to turn a blind eye to it.

Second, in trying to find a good white comparison to Newton you go from manziel to tebow??? Don't you see how hard you're reaching??? Neither if those guys was a competent QB much less NFL MVP!

Yeah his latest comments . . . whew, just terrible. What an idiot. Hate losing, but be a good sport. They coexist amongst the best in society. And didn't want to get hurt?!? I'm his teammate I'm just baffled.

Cam has shown who he truly is and the public it seems has spoken that they don't like it. Let him be but..

Hopefully parents won't buy his jersey for their kids and I would love it if the nfl just completely panned away from him after any TD/act of celebration or pouting.

That explanation was brutal. I couldn't care less about his press conference after the game but it's the SB and your scared to get hurt? Wonder what Thomas Davis thinks about that.

Mike Shula, Ron Rivera and Cam Newton will be dealing with this abomination game for a long time. Cam may go down as one of the worst SB QB performances with this one. :D

Cam was not even the worst Quarterback in THAT game.
Yes, he is a pouty nimrod ... but let's have a round for Peyton, who showed the worst QB performance I've EVER seen while winning the game and then managed to mention Budweiser twice in 2 different settings (1 holding the trophy) and had not yet mentioned his Defense at all. ...

So add Peyton to the Douche column.

Maybe you can start a thread about Manning. I agree his performance sucked. I wasn't offended by his Budweiser/Papa John's shout outs. The Super Bowl/NFL et al is all about marketing promotion. Not one single view was without some marketing brand banner banner. His was just another. It bordered on NASCAR post race winner promotion.

Peyton is also still playing the game at age 39 after four neck surgeries, nerve issues in his arm, and plantar fasciitis, while Cam was completely healthy. Peyton was willing himself through games with sheer determination and mental toughness. Cam was admittedly afraid of getting hurt to recover what appeared to be the fumble that was the nail in the coffin for Carolina. Peyton also lauded his defense multiple times in the dozens of interviews he conducted.

It's a foolish rebuttal to compare Peyton to Cam in this situation and even remotely imply that Peyton is on or beneath Cam's low level of maturity.

Someone clearly hasn't learned from this like Marshall Faulk said he woulD:

http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-o...show-me-a-good-loser-and-ill-show-you-a-loser

You expected less, because I sure didn't. Faulk's & others comments about him changing seem to forget his past actions & comments as well. Cam has a history of this now!!!

The dude has a chip on his shoulder against basically the whole world except for his teammates, coaches, family & personal friends. The guy just don't get it & IMO he just keeps throwing gas on the bonfire and it will just keep growing until he backs off & stops his behavior & comments.

The only thing positive from Sunday in his favor after the game was he didn't say something crazy...he sure was wanting to.

Sometimes "being yourself" isn't always the correct way to conduct yourself, especially when you're a high profile athlete.

Sometimes the best thing isn't what you say or do it's what you didn't!!

Cams statements today really shut up all his critics... Because they all realized they can just kickback eat some popcorn and watch him bury himself with each subsequent statement....

I didn't dive for the football but sometimes other guys don't dive for the football so that makes it OK.

Lol oh Cam

I love internet arguments.

One person criticizes Cam because of his actions.

Cam apologist counters with "Oh, yeah. Well, this one time...this other guy did this !!"

So? Back on topic, we were talking about Cam.

How about being able to criticize a player when they deserve criticism?

Is that so wrong?

It's as bad as political arguments. You know - the one where the current POTUS is criticized which leads to the typical "Oh, yeah...well this previous POTUS did this and this. So there !!"

SMH.

What?
Ok this is for the Super Bowl, both guys on the Panthers should nearly give their lives for that ball.

That's not what I see going on by either of them.

What it is?

I'm not saying it I shouldn't have to it looks beyond bizarre and I'm not the one who has to explain what it is.

I think what you saw was a team that had been thoroughly beaten to a pulp for 58 or so minutes and the fight was taken out of them by that point. They knew Denver was coming hard and willing to kill for that ball. They weren't up for it.

Agree 100 percent.

I don't argue very much with my wife, but when I have a grievance with her, she typically fires off her grievances in retaliation.... I always tell her to save it for another time....let's not sidetrack my bitch session. :D

Both were Heisman Trophy winning QB's, one was highly touted while the other was getting heat simply because he wore his religion on his sleeve. Manzeil is getting deserved heat while Tebow, who tries his damnedest at least, gets heat for no other reason then his religion and yet no one bats an eye. But people criticize Cam Newton, who showed the world he's nothing more than a petulant child, is criticized because of his race. That's the mindset. But you keep projecting. You have that right I guess.

My grandpa used to get extremely animated about and angry about WWF wrestling as if it weren't all just entertainment.

That had villains and hero's and it was basically a drama in semi-real life complete with compelling backstories etc.

Give me a break. The overwhelming majority of heat Tebow got was because he SUCKED at football. And the only reason anyone could figure out why he even stayed in the NFL as long as he did was because he was a sideshow who got headlines.

He also got heat for acting entitled to an NFL job when he turned down multiple opportunities to prove himself in Canada as a QB, but refused to do that, for whatever reason

The idea that he got anywhere near the negative press because of his religion is pretty laughable to me.

Discrimination comes in lots of forms. I would say he was hatted for his beliefs as much as people can say Cam is for being black. They hatted him even in his collage days. He didn't suck at that.

People hate teams that win multiple championships in college... like most people hated Matt Leinart and the Trojans when they were winning. Or the way people hate Duke. That's a matter of jealousy, IMO more then anything else... and Tebow won A LOT in college. That kind of hatred comes with the territory when you win that much... unless you're gonna tell me that guys like Laetnner, Leinart, Bobby Hurley were all super religious and that's why people disliked them.

that said, I can admit that there was probably a chunk of his haters who weren't religion fans and they hated him because of that.

You are right that he got heat because he sucked. People wanted him to fail because of how insane the media was over him in college. Remember "Tebow Cam" in the Orange Bowl (I think) that you could watch online? It was a camera that literally followed Tebow the ENTIRE GAME.

That being said, he got more than enough jokes made about his religion. As much of a stubborn **** he may have been about playing in Canada or changing positions, the truth is he has done a lot of positive things for people that get brushed off because of everything else surrounding him.

Jesus I should have read the rest of the thread before posting almost the exact same thing you did a few posts later.

I've been wondering what Thomas Davis thinks about cam's effort on the fumble recovery.
