I know... But if I'm choosing between having to go to Lambeau, in disgusting weather against a team that's had a decent amount of playoff success and a HOF QB vs. going to Carolina, with their weather and a team that hasn't had any playoff success, I'd rather take my chances there.

This.

But as you can guess if we finish 12-4 and the #2 seed and they are 14-2 and the #1 seed....I feel REALLY good about our chances. And I mean really good.

Saying that I think Carolina will hit a bump in the road in the regular season and maybe come back a bit to the pack for as good as their record is, they are not flawless, and unlike the Pats, dont do one thing so well that it cleans up every other deficiency on the team.

Carolina without a doubt is the path of choice. I'd love for the Cards to get a 1st round bye and then have to travel to Carolina for the NFC Championship or play the game at U of P. Getting that 1st round bye could be crucial because, with Carolina's cake schedule, I think they'll be #1 unless the wheels fall off.

agreed. if this team is as good as you think it is (and I hope it can be), there's no reason they shouldn't get the #2 seed. They're tied right now for the number 2 seed as is, have a two game division lead AND they play both the Packers and Vikings at home, who will be their competition for that #2 spot. They get that slot, it not only means they played really well down the stretch against a lot of good teams, but it'll have me probably overflowing with Kool-Aid thinking we're the favorite to get to the Super Bowl.

it's all within their control. the question is are they good enough to control it?

Not good enough. They lost to the Rams at home and to Landry Jones in Pittsburgh. They proved beyond all doubt they are NOT a legit title contender. And, anyone who says they still have a chance is insane or in the bottom quarter of IQ.

we should just hope they lose out and spare us the agony of a playoff loss.

jesus aj... are you really going to keep being this obtuse? just because some of us think the jury's still out on this team, doesn't mean the above.

I mean, the above just seems like you want to pick a fight. I ain't going there but if that's what you want to do, just put me on ignore already and spare yourself.

Nah, not trying to start a fight. Just being "over the top" negative which is what so many did after the Rams and Steelers games. Yes, the jury is still out on this team UNLESS they raise the Lombardi...

we don't always have to be so serious cheese....

People need to lighten up and enjoy the ride until it's over.

you're telling people to lighten up... right after intimating that the "jury's out" folks are calling others insane or that they have bottom Q IQ's. maybe take your own advice there, aj because there's no reason to post what you did except to bash a group of fans here.

and is it really "over the top" negative to simply question if this team is actually a contender after really piss poor losses, especially considering they've yet to play ANYONE who's really all that good?

Whatever cheese, I was having fun with that post.

Even if they were 8-0 it would STILL be OKAY to question whether the team is a true contender. Happy now? Yeah, they have flaws. Two more wins wouldn't change that.

You talk about the team the way you like, and I will talk about the team the way I like too. In the past, I've been labeled negative more than anything else. Really don't care, I love this team and I know all the long time posters here do too. It's kind of funny you are giving me grief for being too positive.

I have no qualms about how you talk about the team and I'm completely flummoxed how I'm giving your grief for being too positive. My issue is how you slammed a bunch of FANS.

Who is dismissing the Panthers?

Aaron Rodgers is a completely different QB at home. The Packers are nigh unbeatable in Lambeau especially in December. Seattle? Please tell me the last time they lost a playoff game in CLS?

It's not disrespect to say; Of those three options, I will take my chances in Carolina.

I give Newton all the credit in the world but why is he talking about an undefeated season? Jut keep winning and take advantage of being the underdog.

Does someone have to be an elite passer to be an elite quarterback?

People have different definitions of elite. When I think of elite QB's only Brady and Rodgers come to mind. Joe Montana wasn't necessarily a prolific passer but he was definitely elite (and clutch).

Agree and think you can extend elite backward in time to make the comparison. Also, some QBs were only elite for a few years, so yes I think you can be elite without being an elite passer.

Joe Montana was prolific as a passer though. His career completion percentage is 63% and that's back when defenses could chuck dudes, hold, and kill receivers over the middle. His windows therefore were smaller and he had less options. Everyone above him except Steve Young is current and didn't play under the same rules. If he played today he'd probably average around 70% completions, that's why he's HOF.

Pass me some of that Kool Aid brother - couldnt agree more.

The good news is if we go handle business next two weeks like we can/should everyone will **** and forget how they were ready to put a bullet through their head after the Rams and Steelers losses.

The Packers had to have some ref shenanigans to win against the Cowboys in the playoffs in the Frozen Tundra just a year ago. The year prior, they lost at home in the playoffs to Colin Kaepernick. In 2011, they lost at home by 17 to the Giants.

This is more perception than reality.

I'm not using competition % as a barometer. I'm using more reputation and style of player. Marino, Fouts, Moon I consider prolific passers from that era. Montana is still significantly better but he's more like pre-07' Brady.

True but I'm still choosing Charlotte 10/10 times.

Exactly.

As of now, I would much rather play in Lambeau against that flawed pass defense than playing in Charlotte against that top-tier defense in January.

Not me.

IMO it's Much harder to throw the rock in what would likely be frigid temps & possible wind in GB. That's how the Cards fly, the passing game! Both the Cowpies & Niners were mostly running teams.

I don't care what K9 cited reference their recent losses. Anyone choosing Lambeau in December and Aaron Rodgers over Cam Newton in Carolina needs their head examined :)

Giants & 49ers both was more successful passing than they did running in their playoff matchups against Green Bay....

Have you seen the Packers' defense this year? Have you seen them in the playoffs in years past?
