If your 75. Not if your a 6'5" 28 year old who runs faster and can jump higher than your average healthy regular person.

Its not the weight that the issue, its all the other things that go along with the weight in 99% of people. Bad health, heart disease, diabetes etc

Thats not what I've heard and read, as recently as last night. The last doctor I heard talking about it said that being obese makes you 3 times as likely to have a poor outcome. Being 65 to 74(?) makes you 5 times as likely so age is a greater risk factor than excess weight but it still looks pretty significant to me.

I'm beginning to see the dominoes start to fall here... it's week four and two games are already getting postponed. What starts to happen when we hit bye weeks? When the flu starts hitting in concurrence with this? It's already a nightmare for fantasy football, which is going to hurt fans. Soon enough we're going to have something where the virus spreads between two teams during a game and has a cascading effect.

That’s why we cancelled our fantasy season. No fun in dealing with cancellations and re-scheduling. Who’s got time for that nonsense?

During a pandemic? Everyone?
Huh? The league I play in canceled the season for this very reason. It doesn’t seem much fun under the current circumstances or just too time consuming to make it worthwhile. Just because there is time to do something doesn’t make it enjoyable or worth the effort.

Just to keep this real, the CDC statistics for any individual under the age of 50 with Covid 19 dying is .2 hundredths of a per cent or 0.0002. When you consider the subset of NFL players who are under the age of 40 and in excellent condition the mortality odds would even be much lower.

Are coaches, refs, and staff not "real?"

Also, mortality isn't the only effect of the virus. It's so frustrating to hear this narrative pushed by people. It's not nothing if you end up in the hospital and barely hold on or the virus leaves a long standing effect on your lungs.

The league will finish. Likely with a full 16 games. Even if they have to extend the season.

The players want the money. The league wants the money. Money talks.

I expect a clamp down and a tightening of procedures and rules over the next week by teams and the league.

Extremely rare. Let's factor in unicorn attack too.

Of all the thousands of pro sports people across the globe who have had Covid there's not a single known case of long term damage.

a) it was a joke

b) my boys and I are still having fun.

c) to each their own. For me, half the league is the actual games and half the league is just a great reason to talk trash and keep in contact with my best friends who are spread all over the country and never see each other.

sure... but you know the players are only part of the team which has a myriad of coaches, trainers and support staff?

When I quoted CDC stats for all individuals under the age of 50 that includes players, coaches, trainers and support staff...as longer as they are under 50.

sure... but most coaches are over 50 and I’m betting a lot of support staff, trainers and assistants are as well.

All of whom had the option to opt out and made the choice that they would rather be involved. Nothing has changed.

Nah nowhere near.

It would take multiple teams having multiple outbreaks for them to stop the season. And when I say multiple, I mean half the league. Simply too much money on the line for players and the NFL.

True and I understand it, but the PR blow back from a player/support personnel death could supersede that

I wouldnt even be paying attention to what the CDC is saying. All of the data is bugged and manipulated.

The only thing we can do is wait and see.

Fingers crossed its not that bad.

Why? Every single one of them had the option not to be involved with no ramifications. They could even get paid for not being there. And nothing has changed. The virus isn't more prevalent now than it was, in fact deaths are down.

Teams and the NFL have put in layers of safety protocols to protect players and staff. The NFLPA and other unions all signed off.

They have done everything they possibly could and everyone chose to be there. As long as they continue to do that then the NFL has nothing to worry about.

Plus the odds are extremely slim.

Except it matches what everyone else in the world is saying.

Ugggg! It's not just about death! There are so many other complications. Look at this guy and what surviving looks like. It'll take his lungs years to recover. You think guys who know they have a small window to make money want that risk?

Every time there a Covid conversation.

"What about this one super rare instance I saw on Facebook eh? This could happen."

Well yeah it could. Your plane could crash when you go on vacation. An air on unit could fall and crush you walking to the park. If we all cancelled things because of obscure risks we'd never do anything.

If you think the NFL are throwing away tens of billions on such miniscule odds I've got a bridge to sell you.

We have 8 players with Covid and we're talking about cancelling the league and rare cases

I'm not sure if you're playing argument games or just missing the obvious? You're not going to find many people here saying "end the season now" because we have 8 cases. We're projecting what can and likely will happen as that 8 becomes 17 and then 39 and then 126. If they can keep the numbers down like they've been so far, the season will go on. But, regardless of whether the players and the others involved are almost risk free, they don't live in a bubble so if the numbers do jump as some of us believe they will, then, it will be time to halt the games.

It's not rare for christ sake. A German study said 60% of those hospitalized have ongoing myocardial inflammation. This a big deal! Stop with your dismissive conjecture based on noting factual. Immediate death is not the only issue here. We will be a spike in heart and pulmonary related deaths attributed to post Covid for years to come.

"A German study of recently-recovered COVID-19 patients examined using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed cardiac involvement in 78% of patients, and ongoing myocardial inflammation in 60%."
